Obby Oss Day, PadstowPadstow lies on the other side of the estuary from Rock, and you can reach it via a regular ferry all year round. May Day is Obby Oss Day in Padstow, and it’s well worth crossing the water for this spectacular traditional event! You’ll see the residents dress up in red and white costumes and perform a traditional, haunting song before celebrating through the streets to welcome spring...now that’s something you don’t get to attend every day! Obby Oss Day is always held on 1 May, unless it falls on a Sunday when it will transfer to the 2 May instead.

Royal Cornwall Show, WadebridgeThe Royal Cornwall Show takes place annually in Wadebridge, and is fast become one of the most popular events in Cornwall! The show lasts for 3 days and is a great family day out. If you’re looking for events in Rock this takes place just a 15 minute drive away, and includes great fun for the whole family. You’ll be treated to live demonstrations, animal shows, flower shows, dog shows and much more. This popular agricultural event attracts a sophisticated crowd, so keep your eyes peeled for famous faces while you enjoy the day!

Run to the Sun, NewquayRun to the Sun will be held between 27-30 May 2011, and will draw the usual crowds of Volkswagen enthusiasts to enjoy the fun and sun! The event has run for over 20 years, and its line up of live acts, music and comedians increases every year. The fun is spaced out over 5 different areas of the festival, so you can pick and choose what you’d like to do. One thing’s for sure...everyone will want to head to the VW display, in which the owners can show off their own wheels and admire the others.

Relentless Boardmasters, NewquayThis year’s Relentless Boardmasters takes place between 10-14 August, and the festival is sure to be the usual energetic event! The festival combines live music from some of the world’s biggest acts at Watergate Bay, with plenty of opportunity to let off steam with sports on Fistral Beach. Watergate Bay transforms into an arena for surfing, BMX and skating for the festival, and the live music each night tops off the perfect day for the crowds. The Relentless Boardmasters event has welcomed some of the best surfers in the world over the years, and is sure to host some famous names in 2011. If you want to watch the surfing championships rather than the music, you need a ticket for the Fistral Beach event, not Watergate Bay.
