If there's one thing you do during a stay in the region, it's got to be to pick a walk that suits you and take in some of that scenery with a leisurely stroll. This Whitsand Bay walk is a great one for getting an overview of the area, and it’s just under five miles long. Start by parking at one of the car parks in the quaint little village of Portwrinkle and cross the stile opposite the Whitsand Bay Hotel Golf Club. If you have trouble finding it look for the sign to Tregantle Fort.
As you head uphill you’ll be well on your way, and you should have some brilliant views back down over the village. There's a timeless feel to the landscape that surrounds Portwrinkle, so don't forget your camera. The walk boasts beautiful sea views across the bay, but please take care to read warning signs near Tregantle Fort, as it is used by the MoD for occasional live firing.
