Chapel PorthChapel Porth is a less central beach in St Agnes, but it’s still just 2 miles from the centre. This beach is best visited at low tide, and a large expanse of white sand appears, stretching all the way to Porthtowan Beach. Chapel Porth is a great spot for surfing, and there are two car parks nearby with ample parking. A lifeguard is provided between May and September, so whether you’re hitting the surf or enjoying time with the family you can do it with peace of mind. There are toilet facilities near the car park, and a seasonal dog ban is enforced.

Porthtowan15 minutes walk from Chapel Porth Beach, Porthtowan is a stunner. By far one of the most beautiful St Agnes beaches, Porthtowan is hugely popular with holidaymakers and those seeking the surf, especially during the summer. The sandy beach is sheltered by cliffs, and there are some great walks along the South West Coast Path in either direction if you feel like stretching your legs during a day relaxing by the sea. It’s possible to walk to Chapel Porth when the tide goes out, but check the tide times before trying this.

Trevellas PorthTrevellas Porth Beach is found a short distance to the north of St Agnes, and is mainly pebble. One of the interesting features of this St Agnes beach is its surrounding reminders of the area’s mining history, as there are several disused mines and engine houses clearly visible. Also, the Blue Hills Tin Streams nearby still streams tin and offers guided tours, so if you find yourself in the mood for a stroll with something to visit, rather than just sand and surf, then Trevellas Porth is best. There’s a small car park close to the beach.

Trevaunance CoveTrevaunance Cove (also known as St Agnes Beach) is always popular with those on family beach holidays in St Agnes, as it’s one of the best-equipped St Agnes beaches. This sandy beach has plenty to see, including the old harbour and a set of mysterious caves, and the nearby beach Trevellas Porth is a short walk away when the tide’s out. There is a lifeguard service between May and September, and a snack bar which serves hot and cold food. Dogs are permitted on the beach throughout the year, but they must remain on their leads during July and August. |
Portreath BeachPortreath Beach is a large sandy beach, and it’s another favourite with families on St Agnes and Portreath beach holidays. Its harbour wall and ‘rocky’ mean that the beach is another hotspot for surfing, and there are some great cafes nearby for a filling snack in between sessions! Portreath Beach is accessible to disabled visitors, and there are some disabled parking spaces to be found in the car park overlooking it too. A seasonal dog ban is enforced between May and September, so please check the dates and times if you’re planning a dog-friendly beach holiday in Portreath.
