Plymouth HoePlymouth Hoe is a popular Plymouth family attraction with residents and visitors alike. Recognisable for its red and white Smeaton’s Tower, the hoe is a large open area of land with panoramic sea views and a recent addition, the Plymouth Eye - a great way to admire the views. Smeaton’s Tower is open to the public, although the climb to the top involves very steep steps – however the views from the top are well worth the effort! Just below Plymouth Hoe is the Lido outdoor swimming pool, which sits at the foot of the cliffs and is open to the public during the summer. Plymouth Hoe is also the home to the annual British Firework Championships.

Plymouth BarbicanThe historic Barbican is one of Plymouth’s finest assets! Not only is the Barbican brimming with famous history, but there is plenty to amuse those after Plymouth family attractions too. From independent shops such as bookshops and antique dealers, to chic eateries and regular events, there is always something to do at Barbican. Barbican has been the starting point of many a voyage, including Sir Francis Drake’s exploration, the Pilgrim Fathers’ journey to America and many more - and its cobbled streets have changed little since. The National Marine Aquarium detailed above is also at Barbican.
