Penrose Water GardensJust a 15 minute drive from Perranporth, Penrose Water Gardens in Truro are a dazzling way to see some of the stunning Cornish countryside. Stroll the water gardens and their 60 ponds, and they’re unforgettable when the lilies flower in their various colours! The gardens have remained hidden for 20 years, and have only recently opened to the public – and you can buy water and garden plants as well as local Cornish crafts to take home. While you’re there, a visit to the Lily Tearooms is a lovely opportunity to enjoy a drink on the veranda overlooking the ponds. Admission is free and guided tours are available to make sure you don’t miss anything!

Blue Hills Tin StreamsPerranporth was once a mining village, and Blue Hills Tin Streams is the perfect Perranporth family attraction to discover more about life with the mines. Blue Hills Tin Streams is the last working mine in Cornwall, and a chance to take home some unique Cornish tin jewellery and gifts. Life in Cornwall was always connected to mining, and although you’ll see many disused mines throughout the county this is one of few that is still open to enter and have a look around. Because the mining of tin is a renewable source, it’s been carried out in Cornwall for thousands of years, so there’s a long history to walk at the Blue Hills Tin Streams! |

Perranporth BeachThe most popular family attraction in Perranporth has got to be Perranporth Beach (also known as Perran Sands)! This large, smooth sandy beach is popular with families and surfers alike, and it stretches for 2 miles so there’s plenty of space. The beach is great for bathing as it’s lifeguarded during summer, and Penhale Sands, the pretty dunes behind the beach, are a lovely spot for a picnic by the sea. The beach is sheltered from winds by cliffs behind it, so it’s a great stretch of coast to take a young family. |
PerranzabuloeThe Perranzabuloe Museum is a quirky Perranporth attraction, and is open to the public between April and October. Entry to the museum is free, and it’s a very family friendly museum. This is a great opportunity to gain an insight into the town behind the beaches and surf scene, and thanks to a National Lottery Grant the displays have been extended. Displays tell the story of Perranporth’s social and industrial past, as well as villages in the area and the influence of mining of the communities. There’s even a replica of a real Cornish kitchen! |
Holywell Bay Fun ParkFor a Perranporth family attraction that offers a day of adventure with the kids, Holywell Bay Fun Park is just the place! The attraction is just outside of Newquay, and as there is no need to pay for parking or entry you can simply pay for each ride and game as you go. The fun park includes Go Karts, blaster boats, Thunder Racing, Pitch and Putt, a kids zone and much more for the whole family to enjoy. There are dozens of rides and attractions in addition to these, and the indoor areas make this a great attraction for wet weather too. { |
