Westward Ho! Potwalloping FestivalIf you’re looking for a unique North Devon event, they don’t come much more niche than the Westward Hi! Potwalloping Festival! This annual three-day event dates back to 1863, and sees residents and visitors head down to the beach and throw pebbles back to the ridge after storms had swept them away. The festival has developed into an entertaining and busy three days, in which potwallopers are treated to live acts, attractions, arts and activities to reward their efforts. This is one of a kind event in North Devon!

Ironman 70.3 UKIronman 70.3 UK is by far the most challenging North Devon event! The event is a famous test of stamina and fitness, and the Exmoor branch of Ironman UK books to the maximum year after year. Come along and join the huge crowds who turn up to watch the contestants as they struggle for the title and display unbelievable determination and energy. Held at Wimbleball on Exmoor, the race includes a gruelling triathlon which many undertake in aid of charity. The challenge includes a bike course, a very cold swim and a run through the unforgiving Exmoor countryside to gain true Ironman status!

Gold Coast OceanFest, CroydeAn annual event in North Devon, Gold Coast OceanFest takes place over the weekend closest to Summer Solstice. Held in Croyde, this popular festival is the perfect highlight for a North Devon summer, where visitors can have fun in the sun and enjoy live music and entertainment over several days. The festival largely takes place in Croyde Arena but the fun spills on to the beautiful Croyde Bay beach too, so look out for sponsored events during the festival. The perfect combination of music and sports events, Gold Coast Oceanfest is a great way to celebrate Croyde and summer fun!

The North Devon FestivalSet to take place in June 2011, the North Devon Festival is more of a whole series of exciting events than one North Devon event. The annual programme if packed full of events, performances and activities, and the community spirit of the event makes it impossible not to enjoy the fun! The North Devon Festival is a colourful mish mash of film, music, school activities, theatrics, displays and much more entertainment. There is something for everyone, and the festival is also a great opportunity for local traders – as the many visitors it attracts are welcomed by stalls and crafts too.
