The North Devon section of the South West Coast Path takes walkers through striking coastal areas such as North Exmoor, and is the perfect way to get to know North Devon. North Devon’s array of golf courses include England’s oldest course in Westward Ho!, and many of the surrounding ones include dazzling views of the area.
Lundy Island, just off the coast of North Devon, makes for an unforgettable day out during any North Devon holiday. Just three and a half miles in length and half a mile wide, Lundy never fails to captivate its visitors with its tranquillity and views. Lundy is a great location for walking, climbing and diving – so visitors can explore the island however they wish!

Holidays in North Devon are bound to involve a visit to one of the area’s stunning beaches, no matter which time of year you visit. Woolacombe, Saunton Sands and Westward Ho! are firm favourites with those on family holidays in North Devon. Croyde’s famous sandy beach has won several awards and is fantastic for surfing, as well as swimming and windsurfing. The beach is easy to access and is manned by lifeguards during high season. Each of the beaches mentioned are great spots for surfing and watersports, as well as bathing – and needless to say, fun in the sun!
Guests of holiday cottages in North Devon will find a wide range of family attractions to choose from, no matter what the weather chooses to do! The North Devon Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway connects the two picturesque towns and is a great way to experience breathtaking views out to sea. Or why not visit the historic Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe? The Milky Way Adventure Park in Bideford will delight children of all ages and offers acres of indoor and outdoor fun. The North Devon Farm Park in Barnstaple is also a favourite with children and is open seven days per week between Easter and October.

Dog friendly beaches throughout the year include Lynmouth Bay, Saunton Sands, Combe Martin, near Lynton and Lynmouth and Welcombe Beach, located between Bude and Bideford. Many of North Devon’s beaches, including Croyde Bay, operate restrictions between the months of May and September – so it’s always best to check.
