Dylan Thomas Birth HouseThe best-loved attraction in Mumbles is also the birthplace of Wales’ finest poet. The Dylan Thomas Birth House, Number 5 Cwmdonkin Drive is open to the public for guided tours and still has the feel of a family home. The house is open daily between 10.30am and 6.00pm, and visitors are even welcome to stand in the bedroom where he wrote most of his work. Dylan was born in 1914, in the house’s front bedroom, and he detailed the property and Mumbles in much of his work. The Mumbles LighthouseThe Mumbles Lighthouse is the most photographed family attraction in Mumbles! Finished in 1794, the lighthouse stands on the outer of two islands known as Mumbles Head. Just 500 yards from Mumbles, the lighthouse guides boats along this stretch of coast and into Swansea Bay. At certain times of the day it’s possible to walk out to the island, but check the tide times carefully before you go. The lighthouse has become one of the most iconic images of the village of Mumbles, and is a crucial part of its landscape.

This ruined Norman castle is open to the public, and it still has a mysterious and dramatic atmosphere. The castle dates back to the 12 century and was completed after the capture of Gower by the Normans. A fire destroyed the castle in 1116 and it was rebuilt. Visitors may recognise this Mumbles attraction, from the silver screen as it was used as a location for the film Ironclad, directed by Jonathon English. .
