Our guide to holiday cottages in Mousehole, Cornwall
First thing’s first – Mousehole is pronounced ‘Mowzel’ (well you don’t want to be roaming its cobbled streets saying the name wrong!), and this traditional fishing village has become legendary for its annual Christmas illuminations. Every boat in the harbour is covered with bright festive lights from mid-December to create a sight that once seen is never forgotten, and the illuminations get bigger every year.
The village looks every inch the picturesque Cornish fishing village, and traditional cottages huddle protectively around its working harbour. The sheltered little beach means plenty of opportunity to paddle and the friendly pubs throughout the village make the perfect places to sample the local ale in the sunshine. Mousehole is the kind of place where time slows down and life revolves around fresh seafood and enjoying the peace and quiet.
