Gorran HavenGorran Haven is a small, historic village found to the west of Mevagissey, and its two pretty beaches are well worth noting if you’re planning a beach holiday in Mevagissey! The village’s main beach is easily accessible, and close to toilets, shops and a large car park. So whether you drive along to this beach or make it the finishing point of a walk from Mevagissey you’ll have no trouble parking or refreshing yourself when you arrive. Vault Beach lies to the south of the village, close to Dodman Point, and boasts a mile of glimmering sand and unspoilt beauty.

Constantine BayDon’t forget that a regular ferry service operates between Mevagissey and Fowey throughout the summer, and with some of the county’s best beaches just across the estuary beach holidays in Mevagissey tend to include at least one day trying out the sand on the other side! The most popular sandy beach in Fowey is Readymoney Cove, a small ish beach with lots going on. There is safe bathing, a slip way for boats, a view of the former home of author Daphne du Maurier at the top of the cliffs, and plenty of facilities.

Hemmick BeachHemmick Beach is one of the quieter options during a Mevagissey beach holiday, probably because it’s fairly secluded. If you fancy a day away from the crowds then this is the one to head for. The beach is sandy and set in a picturesque cove, although there can be limited parking and it is found via some winding country roads, so you need to have a little time if you want to find it. The beach is found beneath Dodman Point and also has its share of rock pools to tempt visitors!

CaerhaysAlso known as Porthluney Cove, Caerhays Beach is a south-facing beach with the added romance of being overlooked by the magnificent Caerhays Castle. This beach in Mevagissey has a welcome nostalgic feel, with just an ice cream stand, a shop and plenty of space to enjoy the sand. The beach has the convenience of a large car park, dogs are welcome on leads and the scenery is unforgettable. In winter, the beach transforms into a haven for surfers, anglers and those who just enjoy a stroll whilst the waves play nearby....just don’t forget your camera whichever season you visit! |
Mevagissey BeachAlthough Mevagissey Beach (also known as Polstreath Beach) isn’t the most family-friendly to visit during a Mevagissey beach holiday, its long stretch of sand and wonderful views make it worth a visit if you can. The beach is found off the coastal path that heads to Pentewan, so you need to look out for the steps down to the beach. There are 200 steps, so if you need to bring pushchairs or have a lot to carry this is probably not ideal, but if you can get down you’ll discover a long sand and shingle beach. Also, bear in mind that there are no facilities here. This beach is around a 15 minute walk from Mevagissey harbour.
