Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff RailwayThe most famed Lynton and Lynmouth family attraction has always been the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway! Opened in 1890, the is a key form of transport between two villages. It's also the best way to admire the views. Completely powered by water, the railway is also popular for its beautiful views of the surrounding North Devon coastline. Visitors can stand on the same platforms as generations before them and enjoy the 862 foot climb (or descent!) between two historic and very different communities. The best thing about the cliff railway is that is environmentally friendly! |
Lyn and Exmoor MuseumThe Lyn and Exmoor Museum is a great Lynton and Lynmouth attraction for getting to know the area a little better during a stay. The museum couldn’t be set in a more charming building, and Lynmouth’s oldest country house is a peaceful spot to spend a few hours looking at artefacts and displays from the regions’ natural, maritime and railway history. One of the main points of interest in the museum are photos of the famous Lynmouth flood, a beautiful doll’s house which dates back to the Victorian era, and claims of a ghost in the museum’s historic building!
