East Looe BeachEast Looe Beach is probably the most popular beach with those on beach holidays in Looe, as it boasts everything a family could want. Looe beach is large and sandy, and one of the safest in the town, and its surrounding rocks and the Banjo Pier keep chilly winds at bay. There’s a sandy shelf which makes the waters particularly shallow for some way out, so it’s safe for swimming. This is a popular beach, so summer sees plenty of entertainment and activity going on, including trampolines for children. Banjo Pier, beside East Loo Beach, is another popular spot, and it’s great for rod fishing too.

Second Looe BeachJust along from the main East Looe Beach, you’ll find a smaller stretch of sand known as the Second Beach! If you’re keen on an active beach holiday in Looe you’ll probably find yourself here at some point, as it’s perfect for snorkelling and fishing! Large numbers of Bass swim close to the shore along this beach, so it’s a favourite with Bass fishers as the tide comes in. Also, it’s possible to walk along Second Beach to nearby Plaidy Beach during low tide, and look out for a school of Mullet as you pass the sandy patch around half way along the shore!

Polperro BeachIf you’re planning a beach holiday in Polperro, you’ll find the beach just behind the harbour of the pretty fishing village – and you won’t be disappointed. Although picturesque, this beach isn’t the best in the area if you like to lie in the sun, but it’s a lovely spot to get away from the crowds or take a stroll along the shore (at low tide!). Polperro beach is mainly sand and shingle, and it’s a good starting point for a walk along the Cornish coast. Another advantage of this stretch of beach is that it’s so close to the village you’ll have easy access to toilets, cafes and shops.

Hannafore BeachHannafore Beach is a favourite beach in Looe with rock poolers, and can be found from Hannafore Point on Marine Drive. Although this beach is rocky, with shingle rather than sand, there are fantastic rock pools twice daily when the tide goes out! Whether you have children keen to poke about in the pools with their buckets and nets, or an interest in the sealife visible in almost every pool, this is the place to enjoy them. There is sand to be found at low tide, and if you prefer a quiet spot over silky sands then Hannafore Beach acts as a pretty good suntrap for bathers. It’s also the best beach in Looe for a view of Looe Island.
