Who says you have to walk the Wight? It’s also one of the best places in the UK to take the bikes out and enjoy stunning scenery on two wheels, and the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival is a great way to cycle the island.
The festival takes place every September and it makes it easy for cyclists of all abilities to enjoy the island that's seen over half of its landscape designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The programme encourages cyclists to venture off the usual paths and explore some of the Isle of Wight’s most unspoilt areas. The island was named as one of the best places to cycle in the world in 2012 by none other than Lonely Planet, and there are rides for every level.
Cycling's a great way to spend time together during a holiday, and it means you’re free to explore the island at the pace you want to, stopping off to take in the sights and landmarks at your leisure. The Isle of Wight has miles and miles of beautiful coastline that are every cyclist’s dream and with more than 200 miles of cycle tracks the festival is one of the most popular events on the Wight.
