Historic Location

My family and I were very happy on arrival at the Sergeant's quarters to find what a fabulous place it is, with plenty of room and comfort, plus each bedroom had its own en suite. We soon made ourselves at home and had a lovely time. The Golden hill fort has a long history which we enjoyed reading about. We had a good walk around the area, and there are fabulous views from the roof.

Staying In a Fort!!

Although we wanted to go away at New Years, we weren't able to so we thought we'd treat ourselves with a weekend somewhere "interesting". Golden Hill Fort certainly fit that bill. Our teenage daughter was quite excited about "staying in a fort". The entire experience was stress free and enjoyable. The facilities were exactly as described, including black out blinds, fat duvets, fluffy towels, and broadband. The setting was amazingly quiet. We were met by the caretaker who helped us settle in. We found plenty to do, even on a winter weekend. We can recommend breakfast at The Garlic Farm and Sunday lunch at The New Inn (book). There are walks in surrounding park (bring wellies) and the views from the roof garden are spectacular, even when it's a bit grey (bring binoculars). Lovely experience "staying in a fort".

sergeants quarters, isle of wight

The accommodation set within Golden Hill Fort is probably the best we have ever stayed in. This is a very high spec property with everything you could possibly need. In the unlikely event of having any issues Phil, the property manager, is always available. A holiday to remember in a spectacular setting.

The Sergeants Quarters, Golden Hill Fort

A fabulous historic venue which has wonderful views and is surrounded by woodland for walks. The accommodation is secure with gated entry. The location is superb with horse riding 2 minutes away at the very friendly Hill Farm Stables. More adventure can be had in Freshwater at the activity centre. We did archery and it was good fun. The local beach at Coldwell Bay is a good sandy beach with just a small bucket and spade shop and cafe. Unspoilt just the way we like it.Fossil walks are close by. We went with Fossil Gems to see the dino footprints on the beach. Our perfect holiday, outdoors, great accommodation and lots to see and do. If you just drive in the car the views are stunning. It doesn't take long to get to the DinoIsle museum or the Roman Villa in Brading either. We cannot wait to come back. My first time in the IOW and with Bluechip and it won't be the last.

Sue & friends

We had an excellent holiday at The Sergeants Quarters. The accommodation is exactly as described in the brochure. Very well maintained & spotlessly clean. Ideal position for touring the island. The roof garden had spectacular views in the daytime & amazing sunsets in the evening.

Polish your boots!

Driving through the arch into Golden Hill Fort immediately takes you back in time as this building is steeped in history. The excitement of our seven year old grandson was off the scale. Whilst sitting on the balcony at dusk, one could envisage the soldiers in the courtyard below. At the quieter end of the Isle of Wight the area was peaceful, plus being situated in the country park with plentiful wildlife. As nowhere on the Island is far away it was not difficult to visit our chosen attractions. The roof garden provided 360 degree breathtaking views and was certainly unlike anything previously encountered. The Sergeants Quarters was immaculate. We have never stayed in such a well equipped property .... never! It lacked nothing. Two of the bedrooms could have been slightly larger ..... but who spends a lot of time in the bedroom ...... and the walk-in wet rooms were a real luxury. The living area was comfortable and plenty spacious enough to accommodate four adults and two children. We highly recommend this awesome, safe, secure and immaculate property.

Life at the Fort

As soon as we saw this holiday home on the web site we knew it was a must-have. And the reality did not disappoint. Our concierge, Phil, was most welcoming and throughout the week provided us with tips on where to go, the best places to eat and convincing ghost stories. The service he provided was quite exceptional. We were intrigued with the upside-down living that this high-tech home offered. Everything we needed was there and more besides. The location was idyllic, peaceful and historically interesting. All parts of the island were easily reached from our location which had the benefit of being secluded. We felt quite privileged in staying there - sweeping through the electric gates to our balconied apartment was a rare treat. A five star experience.

Golden Hill Fort Sergeants Quarters

We were warmly welcomed by the manger, Phil who showed us around our property. The property was very spacious with excellent facilities. The vaulted brick ceiling within the living area was something else. The roof top gardens totally wowed us with fantastic views of the island and sea views. We spent an evening up there with a drink and watched the sun set. There were good walks from the fort which we enjoyed immensely. Well worth a stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Accommodation at The Sergeant's Quarters was outstanding. The property is modern and very well equipped. Phil, the property manager, was extremely helpful, very friendly and responded quickly to text messages when arranging the 'meet and greet.' Golden Hill Fort is well positioned in West Wight and numerous walks are available from the door. An excellent holiday in a beautiful house!
