This elegant event on the Isle of Wight is one of its most popular events and for many it wouldn’t be summer without it. The Last Night of the Osborne Proms is the perfect excuse to pack a picnic and your favourite bottle of wine and settle down for an evening of superb music and a good old sing song.
The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra always delight the crowds, and what better place for a rousing evening of music than in the grounds of Queen Victoria’s seaside home? There’s always a great atmosphere amidst the audience and as well as all the usual songs you’ll also hear surprises such as music from Harry Potter and other popular films.
The evening always concludes with a beautiful firework display, so if you can make this event during a stay on the island it’ll be a special evening you’ll remember for a long time. Oh, and one thing’s pretty much compulsory – waving your miniature flag throughout! The usual favourites are guaranteed, such as Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and Pomp and Circumstance.
The concert is always held outside, so it’s dependent on dry weather – it’s best to check the official website for details in the run up to the event once you’ve purchased tickets.
