Bembridge Beach is one of the village’s finest vantage points if you’re looking for panoramic views across the Solent, and as it’s dog friendly all year round it makes a popular stretch of coastline for a walk. The beach starts at the spit beside the harbour, and although the beach is mostly pebble and shell it’s good fun to explore and easy to access. The views over the Solent stretch all the way to Portsmouth, and you can even see St Helen’s Fort on a clear day.
The beach is one of the island’s most popular spots for watersports, so if you’ve been meaning to try something new during your visit then this might be the place to get started – and if not it’s still fun to sit and watch the adrenalin-seekers out on the Solent. The harbour’s a hub of activity during peak season, and if it’s boat-watching you fancy then you can just find a comfortable spot and enjoy the sight of the boats as they come and go.
There’s plenty of parking in the car park behind the sand dunes that back the beach so if you want to spend some time on Bembridge Beach you won’t have to worry about where to leave the car. Thanks to its central position close to the harbour you’ll find toilets, and shops within an easy walk too, so this is a handy beach as well as a gorgeous one.
