Have you ever wondered what real Elizabethan country life would have been like? We're talking wandering through the garden to your manor house and warming yourself by the fire inside...well Trerice is about as close as it's possible to get to experiencing it. Trerice is a welcoming Elizabethan manor house that never fails to charm its visitors. Far smaller than other National Trust houses, Trerice’s size works in its favour as visitors can take their time and enjoy an intimate building with history at every turn. It’s always a favourite with TripAdvisor reviewers, and they recommend visiting for a morning or an afternoon during a Cornwall holiday.
An historic house is always that bit more special when it hasn’t seen too much change, and thanks to a series of owners who lived away Trerice has managed to escape losing its character. The house and gardens make a lovely setting to escape from it all and unwind, and other than the occasional lilts of Tudor music you’ll find a comfortable silence surrounds the grounds.
Visitors can try their hands at traditional Tudor games on the Bowling Green before they leave, and the sounds of families having fun make it easy to imagine Trerice as a busy family home. You’ll find guides throughout the house who are only too happy to make sure you don’t miss anything and that all your questions are answered, and when you’ve finished exploring the cafe is on hand to serve up something hearty. There's free parking at Trerice, and the house is just a ten minute drive from Newquay.
