Holsworthy MuseumHoused in a 17 century manor house, Holsworthy Museum includes 5 rooms filled with the market town’s fascinating history. This engaging Holsworthy attraction is divided into 5 main rooms, each dedicated to a chapter of Holworthy’s past. The rooms include the tools of former tradesmen, apothecary artefacts, the Second World War, medical items and a kitchen complete with its original flooring and fireplace. The main room includes details Holsworthy as a ‘port town’ and details its local customs and traditions. Holsworthy Museum is a great a great way to get to know the town ready for a stay in the area.

Hartland AbbeyAnother Holsworthy family attraction in nearby Hartland, Hartland Abbey and Gardens, is unmissiable if you do make the short journey to the village. Just a stone’s throw from the dramatic north Devon coast, Hartland Abbey dates back to 1157 and opens its grounds to visitors. A popular location for films, you may recognise the Hartland estate from Sense and Sensibility, Hercules, Gardener’s World, Treasure Island and many more films and series! One of the nicest things about Hartland is its emphasis on old fashioned fun for the children, so it has retained its charm!

Docton Mill Gardens are open from 1 March until the 31 October and offer stunning wild flower displays for every season. Award-winning beds of colour line traditional garden ponds, and there's a vegetable garden, tea rooms to admire. The perfect English country gardens, Docton Mill gardens' narcissi displays outdo themselves every year, and it’s worth noting that the cream teas were voted the best in Devon in 2005!
