Full Property Description

History meets modern day luxuries in this beautifully restored barn at Old Manor Farm. Honeysuckle is part of The Old Manor Farmhouse, a 16th Century Devon longhouse, and has retained much original character such as stunning oak beams enfolded by the cob and stone structure and high, beamed vaulted ceilings.

Modern luxuries have been introduced such as king-size beds, roll top baths, Freeview TV/DVDs and washing machines to name a few. If you feel like a spot of indulgence there is pampering available on-site such as massages, manicures, pedicures or facials.

Honeysuckle is an excellent choice anytime of the year. It is ideal for a family or two couples wishing to holiday together since both bedrooms can be made up into twin or double beds. There is a large communal garden enclosed with stone walls and apple trees from the old orchard, BBQ area with furniture and a trampoline for the children. Ample parking is also available.

Honeysuckle is excellently situated within Torquay where you will find a diverse range of activities available to you whether you're into the country side, beaches, shops, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, bars, clubs, golf, sailing, tennis, squash, diving, fishing, tenpin and green bowling, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis and pools! Whether you like to walk, rest or play there is something for all.

Nearby there is an excellent selection of local shops while Torquay town centre, the harbour and beaches are a short drive away. Watcombe Beach is 1/2 mile away and offers free parking at the top of the incline allowing you to access either the South West Coast path or the beach.

The beach at Watcombe is accessed via a fairly steep slope however provides spectacular scenery and secluded beach with a beach cafe. It is dog friendly all year round. If you don’t want the walk down, try one of Torquays other 21 beaches, with Oddicombe and its tram just along to the right.

Take the coast path and admire the stunning scenery - in one direction Maidencombe and in the other St Marychurch and Oddicombe beach.

“We came to visit friends and family in Torquay. The barn was spacious, well equipped and very warm! Wok’s Cook-in Chinese was lovely (2 minutes away). Paul’s plaice chip shop was also top quality. If you want a fantastic breakfast then you should try Angel Tearooms! Thank you to Martin and Kim for making us welcome and for the lovely goodies on arrival.” The Hall’s, November 2011.
“We have been to Pilgrims rest before and loved it, this time it was even better. We’ve had such a relaxing holiday with excellent food and scenery. The Thatched Tavern restaurant and The Ness was lovely. Thanks again” Andy, Louise & Emma, November 2011.
“We came to Honeysuckle as we were in a show at the local theatre (Princess Theatre). The barn itself was fantastic, everything we needed it had! We didn’t have much time for leisurely activities but we did enjoy a run through St Mary church then along to Watcombe beach. Thank you for everything! “ Kate & Rochel, November 2011
“From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The goodies on arrival were a sweet touch alongside the coziness Honeysuckle had to offer. The barn itself was lovely and spacious with comfortable furniture. We enjoyed some beautiful coastal walks from the cottages into Torquay or Maidencombe. Dartmouth is a lovely day out, so for future guests if you get the chance then give it a go! The Thatched Tavern offers some mouthwatering dishes so we spent a few nights there. I will treasure the memories I have of Torquay especially my day out in Dartmouth. You have a really good set up here, keep up the good work! Thank you so much Martin and Kim” Carmel & Austin, November 2011.
“This holiday has allowed us to spend some quality time together after a very difficult year spent in hospitals. We loved, loved, and loved, Honeysuckle! Its cozy, warm, ideally located, clean, I mean what more could you ask for? I recommend to future guests that they take the time to read all the fantastic local information that is available, plan your time as there is so much to do. There are so many different places to visit in such a short space of time, we loved; Cockington village, Hanburys fish & chips, Babbacombe beach, Cliff railway café and AMF bowling! The holiday will be a memory I keep forever. I won’t forget the breath taking views, laughing together and most of all the kind hospitality you gave to us. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in such a special place” Frank, Lorraine & family, October 2011.
“We came to Pilgrims for a bit of a university reunion and a friend’s wedding at the Cary Arms which despite the weather was beautiful. We loved the barns features and the cozy feel it had to it. Woks Cook In Chinese was lovely, as well as Paul’s Plaice the fish & chip shop. Afternoon tea at Angels was amazing after a nice walk to the beach! Thank you so much for such an enjoyable break. All the information was great, wouldn’t have been half the holiday without it! We will definitely be recommending you to our friends” Laura & Beccy, October 2011.
“What a brilliant holiday! The barn was beautiful, more than we had hoped for. The location of Pilgrims cottages is excellent; we were able to enjoy some lovely walks from the barn to Maidencombe without even taking the car. The Thatched Tavern in Maidencombe at the end of the walk was lovely. Cockington is a must do for future guests, really pretty surroundings as well as exquisite team rooms. Thank you for the goodies on arrival the cake was yummy.” Sarah & Kevin, October 2011.
“The barn truly lived up to our expectations, we couldn’t fault it. The information packs you gave us were invaluable, it’s a must read for future guests. The location was excellent in close proximity to a number of attractions and food outlets which was helpful. A bonus for us was the weather, for October is was just beautiful making our stay all the more perfect. Thank you for all the lovely gifts on arrival and letting out your beautiful property to us” Jack & Monica, October 2011.
“Our first holiday after having a baby and what a lovely place to come for it. Such a beautiful setting and relaxing atmosphere what more could you ask for? The barn was a perfect size allowing relatives to come over for dinner etc which was lovely. We enjoyed some great days and meals out thanks to your information packs, our favorites were; Paignton Zoo, Steam railway to Dartmouth, Thatched Tavern & Combe Cellars (food was delicious)and finally the chip shop and Chinese two minutes away from Honeysuckle served great food. Thank you for such a wonderful holiday! The treats on arrival were very much appreciated. Thanks again and hopefully see you again soon.” Gemma & Andrew Davis, September 2011
"Second time coming here and like last time we thoroughly enjoyed it. Honeysuckle was very clean and comfortable, Martin and Kim are great and everything they do is to make their guests happy. We went out walking a lot, really enjoyed going to Berry Head and Cockington. Brixham and Paignton are lovely days out, so much to do and see. Torquay is fabulous and the food at the Harvester was great. Thank you once again for making our holiday special. Keep up the amazing work and we look forward to seeing you both next year." Martin and Cassie, September 2011
"We wanted to enjoy a relaxing holiday with our dog; you gave us the opportunity to do just this. The information folders you gave us to read were invaluable, without them our holiday wouldn’t have been half as good. We took you up on your recommendation and visited the Thatched Tavern, it was gorgeous! The food was great and the staff was excellent. The Cary Arms was also beautiful as well as woks cook in and Paul’s Place. We found there was so much to do in so little time, in the time we did have we had; taken the car ferry from Dartmouth to Totnes which was lovely and visited all the different beaches. Your thoughtfulness of the cake, tea and coffee was a really sweet touch. Your barns are just lovely places to stay, so comfy and cozy, straightaway we felt at home. Thank you so much and keep doing what you’re doing because you’re doing a fantastic job." Nick, Joise and Holly, September 2011
"Our main reason behind choosing Honeysuckle was that it accepted dogs, when we arrived we found it had so much more to offer. The welcome was lovely and the barn was extremely peaceful so we were able to relax from the word go. We went to a lovely restaurant in Dartmouth called Sea Spray; I strongly recommend this to future guests. Thank you so much for a lovely stay." Cheryl and Phil, September 2011
"The barn was fantastic, comfortable, clean and in a great location. The welcome was lovely, making us feel at home straight away. We had some memorable days out including the steam train to Dartmouth followed by the cruise on the river Dart, best day out! Jingles Mexican restaurant was delicious, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you for your hospitality, you have a lovely place and we hope to come again." The Bullock Family, August 2011
"Our first family holiday together and I got engaged! What a way to start this beautiful holiday. Honeysuckle exceeded our expectations; it was comfortable, clean and extremely well presented. The location was excellent, close to many attractions as well as supermarkets etc. Cockington was a lovely day out, the children loved it. Our favorite place to eat was Simply fish & chips in Brixham, definitely no ordinary fish & chips! Thank you so much, your information pack was the best we have ever seen, the welcome was warm and our dogs loved it. Wish we could stay longer but we will be back very soon." The Shiel Family, August 2011
"We have had a brilliant time! The cottage is beautiful and your friendliness made our stay even better! Everything we needed was in arms reach, couldn’t of asked for anything more. Would love to come back again some time. Thank you for a holiday to remember." Sue, Nick, Harvey and Will, August 2011
“We came to Honeysuckle in need of a break and this is exactly what we got. From the minute we got here you made us feel so welcome, which was lovely. The children thoroughly enjoyed going on the trampoline which was great for us. Not only were the children happy but our dog Louie couldn’t have been more impressed with the garden and how safe it was. We had a lovely day out playing tennis which was one of the highlights of our holiday. Thank you so much for a lovely break.” Helen, Andy, Tom, Elenor and Louie, July 2011.

“We came to Torquay for a week’s holiday and to discover the area. We loved it! The accommodation was excellent and the people were extremely friendly. There was such a lovely atmosphere around the barns, the children even made friends to play with on the trampoline which one of my top highlights. Everywhere was easily accessible which was great. We were a huge fan of Paul’s Plaice, the chips were fantastic! The dog-sitting was extremely helpful; it allowed us to go to places we couldn’t have gone to other wise. Thank you for a lovely stay, keep doing what you’re doing and we hope to be back soon….if you’ll have us?” Darren, Laura, Matthew & William (dog), July 2011.

It has been an absolute pleasure and already planning for next year and a fortnight! Family friendly. Clean to a high standard. First class amenities and in current economic climate great value for money. Perfect location to visit many attractions, restaurants and beaches...this time: Pennywell Farm, Mini Pony Centre; Cary Arms; Goodrington Beach; Shaldon; Teignmouth....See you next year. Can’t wait!"
