Full Property Description

Nestled in the village of Charlestown, Pelican Cottage offers a luxurious family-friendly base to explore Cornwall. Internally the property has been furnished to a high standard in a contemporary style. Externally, the property boasts an enclosed garden complete with furniture and barbecue and is within a short walk of the centre of the village.

Charlestown is situated near St. Austell and during years gone by, was of great importance to the local economy as its port was used to import coal and export local China Clay. Since the decline in the China Clay industry, the harbour remains as important as ever and provides a permanent berth for square-riggers.

St Austell itself is the meeting point of old and new Cornwall, of ancient narrow streets and pedestrian precincts with fine shops and restaurants. The bay has numerous sandy beaches and fishing villages. Renowned attractions, such as The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are close by.

The pebble beaches are beautiful in the small village of Charlestown, we enjoyed exploring the caves. The food in the local pub 'The Habour Inn' was well worth the money. Every one in the village were welcoming and pleasant. If you want to relax this is the place to be. The Eden Project is not far away and is a fantastic experience for all ages. We will be coming here again next year. August 2011.

Pelican Cottage is a well presented cottage providing everything you require for a very comfortable stay away from home. The location is only a short walk down into Charlestown and only a short drive from beautiful beaches. The property managers are very easily contactable and extremely helpful. Our 6 year old loved watching the birds in the garden with plenty of space for her to play. July 2011.
The overall experience of our holiday at Pelican Cottage, Charlestown was excellent. The cottage was superb and located in a quiet courtyard. It was a pleasure to come back to after a long day out. It was clean, comfortable and included all that we needed for a stress free holiday. There were bird feeders in the garden that proved irresistable to a Squirrel, and a Jay, as well as the more commom birds we have at home. We would recommed this cottage and will in all liklihood return next year. July 2011.

We stayed in this simply charming cottage that was furnished and decorated to a very high specification to celebrate our son's 13th birthday plus the Royal Wedding of course! It is ideally situated within walking distance of the town with its picturesque harbour framed by the fantastic tall ships that we saw on Dr Who the following week! The restaurants are lovely in the town with excellent food and how great to be able to easily walk there and back. Good days out to Eden project and nearby beaches. Thanks also to Blue Chip who were simply GREAT! May 2011.
“Lovely cottage, great base, enjoyed stay. Thank you.” Carol and Gwen, March 2011.
"Great weather, great company, great place to stay, great holiday.” The Jones and Sturdey families, March 2011.
