Full Property Description

Woodbine House is a traditional 2 bedroom house which lies a short way up Wood Lane in Kingswear and overlooks the River Dart from almost every room.  A full width balcony which enjoys the afternoon and evening sun is accessed by French doors from both the living and dining areas, and provides breathtaking panoramic views.  Stylishly furnished, it has been awarded the prestigious ‘four star gold’ award by Visit England. Situated in a peaceful setting the house is just a short walk from the ferries across the river to lively Dartmouth, and the marina car park where a parking space is provided.

From the delightful setting of Kingswear alongside the River Dart, guests are perfectly located to explore and discover the natural delights of this area. Take a ride on the Dartmouth Steam Railway winding along the banks of the river and then along the Paignton coastline or relax on board a boat trip up to Dartmouth offering spectacular rural views and an array of wildlife en route. For those of a more active nature join the South West Coastal Path as it undulates and winds its way to Brixham, challenging but ultimately rewarding with unrivalled coastal views. Along the way stop off at Coleton Fishacre, owned by the National Trust and the former residence of the D’Oyly Carte family and home to a 30 acre garden.

Across the river from Kingswear is the historic naval town of Dartmouth. Easily accessible by the regular foot or car ferry and a great reason to stroll through the narrow lanes and discover the array of galleries showcasing local art. The Britannia Naval College can also be visited on certain days along with the remains of Dartmouth Castle, at the mouth of the River Dart.

“The cottage is exactly what is shown in the brochure! Great views of Dartmouth and the river, lovely kitchen and bathroom – you won’t want to leave. Weather mixed but lots to do – walking, boat to Totnes, great places to eat... or just watch the boats on the river, the wildlife and the ever-changing views. I’m just off to get a job as a ferryman!” Sue & Alan, Cheshire, Sept 2011
An excellent cottage with almost unrivalled views across the Dart to Dartmouth. Fantastic top floor with sitting room, dining area and balcony with a feeling of being in the sky with 360 degree views. Easy to get to many other places without the car. August 2011.
“We have had a lovely time, the house is so comfortable and relaxing, home from home. Clean and well equipped. Thank you for the welcome pack, much appreciated. Will recommend it to friends and would love to stay here again.” The Wilkinsons & The Burrs, August 2011
“Great time here, can’t get over the views from the house. Would definitely return...” The True family, July 2011
“We have had a fantastic stay, wish it was longer. Views are fabulous!... Have managed to almost take every ferry possible – there is so much to do here... We are already jealous of the next people to arrive.” The Walters, Bexhill-on-Sea, April 2011
"Very comfortable and perfect views – definitely the right side of the river, and the sunsets are beautiful... For those lucky enough to see the Red Arrows during Regatta Week, I reckon the balcony here will be the best place to be!" Mr Korth, East Sussex, August 2010.
"The property was extremely comfortable, with excellent views and stylishly furnished to a high standard. The kitchen was well-appointed, which we were extremely pleased to see, as we enjoy cooking while away. Many thanks." Mrs Barnett, May 2010
"We thought the house was wonderful - both the decor and the view. It was particularly nice to be able to still appreciate the view while sitting inside the house when it was too wet/windy to sit on the balcony. We will probably go back for another visit...and would be more than happy to live there!" J Readings, May 2009.
"The quality and standard of the property was exemplary. The views from the main room were stunning, I will have no hesitation in using Blue Chip to book my next holiday!" Mr Rose, December 2008
"We have all thoroughly enjoyed staying in your beautiful cottage! We arrived to find the accommodation in immaculate condition and the welcome pack was a pleasant surprise. The views from the balcony at any time of the day are stunning... We would definitely love to come back again!" Calder, Worcestershire, July 2010.
