A waterfall tumbles down to the beach from the cliffs above, and the shingle beach is one of the best spots in the village for views. Dogs are welcome on Clovelly beach throughout the year, and it offers parking, safe swimming and refreshments. Due to the steep descent to the beach, disabled access may be difficult.

Spekes Mill MouthSpeke’s Mill Mouth is a beautiful beach just a 20 minutes walk from Hartland Quay. One of the most romantic beaches in Hartland, Spekes Mill Mouth boasts a spectacular waterfall and lengthy, gentley curving beach. There is a sandy beach at low tide, and although its reef brake makes this a popular beach in Hartland with the surfing community it is usually a peaceful one. If you prefer a quieter beach during summer beach holidays in Hartland and Clovelly– this is the beach to aim for.

Bucks Mill BeachJust along the coast from Clovelly lies Bucks Mill Beach. Bucks Mill Beach is the quieter Clovelly beach as it’s quite rocky, but it’s fantastic for admiring the views of Bideford Bay, and on a clear day you can even see Lundy Island! The beach is also a popular one with fishermen and anglers, and the secluded feel of the cove adds to its charm. A steep path leads down to the beach so access can be limited. The nearby village of Bucks Mills has an intriguing history and its two former lime kilns can still be seen.
