You’ll find one of the UK’s most infamous family attractions just a ten minute drive from Lymington, and that’s the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. The museum isn’t only home to hundreds of classic cars and motorcycles, but it also showcases some of the most famous cars and vehicles to have graced the silver screen - not to mention World of Top Gear.
Fans of the show can finally see just whet became of the Reliant Robin rocket, the Alpha / Saab stretch limo and the amphibious Toyota once Jeremy and his pals had finished experimenting with them - they ended up at Beaulieu.
The museum tells the tale of motoring through the centuries, and thanks to its stunning collection of cars and unique setting it’s the kind of day out that keeps every member of the family fascinated from start to finish. The museum enables motoring enthusiasts to get right up close to some of the most famous cars in history, including the record breaking Bluebird and (wait for it…) Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
The National Motor Museum also includes the Motorsport Gallery, Jack Tucker’s Garage and Wheels – and each exhibit has been carefully designed to engage visitors of all ages. Jack Tucker’s Garage has won award after award for its attention to detail and perfect demonstration of a classic 1930’s garage. Every artefact inside is genuine and they’ve been collected over more than twenty five years to create a nostalgic glimpse into the past.
Make sure you leave time for Wheels, a family-friendly ride that takes visitors on a journey through the ages of motoring…and it leaves them with a preview into the future of the industry.
