Beach Holidays in FoweyBeach holidays in Fowey still stand their ground against overseas shores, and with the selection of golden sands, unspoilt coves and safe waters it’s little wonder. The South West Coast Path runs past many of the beaches in Fowey, so if you enjoy strolling the coast as much as lying on its sands then you’ll love a break in a Fowey holiday cottage. |

Whitehouse SlipWhitehouse Slip is a great choice for those on family beach holidays in Fowey. This beach is very close to the centre of Fowey, which makes it easy to reach even with small children in tow. The huge sea water paddling pool beside this beach also makes it a favourite with parents, although the only access to the beach is down a flight of steps, so it can be awkward for pushchairs and wheelchairs. The beach at Whitehouse Slip is sandy, just a 5 minute walk from the town centre and there are toilets and shops nearby. There is also a seasonal dog ban.

Par SandsPar Sands is another popular spot for Fowey beach holidays, and as one of the largest beaches in Fowey it offers a large stretch of sand and plenty of space. Par Sands is a great beach for activities, and the sight of coloured kites dancing in the breeze and kite surfers whizzing along the shore is nothing unusual! The waters are shallow for some distance, making Par Sands a good spot for paddling, especially for children. There are toilets, a shop and cafe, and those on dog-friendly beach holidays in Fowey will be pleased to learn that dogs are welcome all year.

Poldridmouth BeachPoldridmouth Beach is quite a hidden gem, and is well worth discovering during a beach holiday in Fowey. This beach isn’t for those who like a convenient stretch of sand with plenty of amenities to see them through the day, but it does have an unspoilt charm and it welcomes dogs all year round. There is a car park around one mile from the beach, and the sands are great for sunbathing if you prefer somewhere more secluded. Bathing is safe here too, but there are no lifeguards so take care. Also, you’ll find plenty of opportunity to explore rock pools too.

Readymoney CoveReadymoney Cove is one of the most picturesque beaches in Fowey, and although quite a small bay it offers a great family beach at low tide and won a Seaside Beach Award in 2006. Wooded cliffs huddle around the cove, sheltering it from wind, and it’s safe to bathe in the cove but take care as it opens onto the mouth of the Fowey estuary. If you look above Readymoney Cove you’ll see what was once a coach house, and home to the famous author Daphne du Maurier during World War 2. There is a seasonal dog ban on the beach between Easter and 30 September, and there is parking available. Unfortunately there are no toilet facilities here.
