Land's EndWe’ll start at the end! Thousands head to Land’s End every year, anxious to get the vital photo of the family around the signpost at mainland England’s most westerly point. Thanks to technology, you can now add your own hometown on to the sign for a customised picture too! Since the area has featured in many an episode of Doctor Who, there’s also a selection of sci-fi inspired attractions to enjoy too, including a 4D cinema experience to make it fun for the whole family. |
Tate St IvesThe Tate St Ives is the home of modern and contemporary art in the South West, and it remains one of the most visited family attractions in West Cornwall. St Ives has always attracted artists because of its perfect light for painting, and the Tate with its stunning collections and exhibitions has become the centre of the art scene. The gallery overlooks Porthmeor Beach – so many return year after year. The Tate St Ives is a fascinating family attraction, even if you’re not an art lover. |
The Minack TheatreThe Minack Theatre in Penzance is a must-see West Cornwall attraction for anybody with a love of theatre or history! Known as ‘Cornwall’s theatre under the stars’, the Minack was the vision of Rowena Cade, and no photography talents could do the sight of this amphitheatre justice as it perches in the cliffs and overlooks an endless blue sea. The theatre is used for performances as well as an attraction, so if you fancy going to see a show during your holiday this is certain to be an unforgettable venue.

Pendennis CastlePendennis Castle stands proudly in Falmouth, and is a great historic family attraction in West Cornwall. The castle was constructed by Henry VIII as a defensive fortress, and it’s seen many conflicts over the years. Children love to explore the castle and its grounds, and the recreated gun room and interactive exhibition always go down a storm! The interactive exhibition enables visitors to experience a battle and how it felt to watch an enemy attack from an observation post. There is disabled access to the castle grounds, but there are some spiral staircases and uneven areas of ground throughout. Pendennis Castle is a popular West Cornwall attraction with all ages.

Lizard LighthouseFrom the most westerly point of mainland England to the most southerly point of mainland Britain, The Lizard Lighthouse is another top attraction in West Cornwall! Visitors to the stunning Lizard Peninsula in this quiet corner of the county can visit its famous lighthouse, and there’s a heritage centre too. The twin-towered Lizard lighthouse has stood in its position for more than 250 years, providing a reassuring landfall light to many a mariner on the Atlantic. The Heritage Centre opened in 2009 and enables visitors to tour the lighthouse, learn about its keepers and even sound the fog signal...so cover your ears!
