Falmouth WeekThe Falmouth Week Festival is not only one of the most popular events in Falmouth, it’s one of the biggest sailing events in the South West! Set for 6-14 August 2011, the Falmouth Week Festival is a huge regatta that thrives on a party atmosphere. Residents and visitors enjoy a 6 day programme of competitive racing on the water, as well as the sight of hundreds of yachts on the shimmering sea for the week. The fun on the water is matched on the land, and the activities throughout Falmouth Week end in a firework display for its close.

Falmouth Festival of Literature and ArtsThe annual Falmouth Festival of Literature and Arts usually takes place in early October, and is a 3 day Falmouth event. Those with a love of all things literary flock to the town to mingle with some of the scene’s best-loved figures and artists, and there will be a whole host of related events throughout too. We don’t have the dates for the 2011 festival yet, but we will update them as soon as they’re confirmed. Keep the first week in October free!

Falmouth Spring Flower ShowThis popular Falmouth event can only mean one thing...the arrival of spring in Falmouth! The Falmouth Spring Flower Show will run from 26-27 March 2011 and dates back for more than 100 years. The show includes hundreds of plants and flowers, as well as bonsais, orchids and much more. Also, the show includes an annual photography competition for all ages. Green-fingered visitors will find plenty of experts to offer some tips, and there will also be lots of opportunity to make some purchases too!

Falmouth International Sea Shanty FestivalThis year’s Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival will run from 17-19 June 2011, and with two aims to entertain and support the RNLI it can’t fail to impress! Founded by local group, Falmouth Shout, this cheery Falmouth event sees performances of local and nautical songs throughout the town over the 3 days as well as a whole programme of entertainment. Venues throughout Falmouth welcome Shanty groups as they please crowds with traditional music and historic song, raising vital funds for the RNLI as they go.

Falmouth Oyster FestivalThe Falmouth Oyster Festival is a Falmouth event certain to warm autumn for visitors to the town! The festival is perfectly timed to welcome the start of the oyster harvest and celebrates the range of seafood Cornwall provides. The streets of the town will fill with the smell of fresh oysters as stalls and cookery bars appear throughout the event, and highlights also include cookery demonstrations from some of the country’s leading chefs. The festival is free, and there will also be live music throughout Falmouth too, so it’s easy to see why the event attracts thousands every year.
