Tunnel BeachTunnel Beach and Castle Beach connect into one long beach at low tide, and Tunnel Beach is sheltered by the sea wall - making it a good choice during beach holidays in Falmouth. Although quite a narrow beach, it’s sandy so if you can find a spot then it’s worth visiting for a day. Tunnel Beach can be reached via a small tunnel from the promenade (hence its name), and as it all but vanished at high tide it’s not as popular as the others nearby. Also, you’ll need to walk to Castle Beach to use the toilet and cafe facilities.

Swanpool BeachSwanpool Beach is a stunning choice of beach in Falmouth, and it even sits within its own secluded cove. The beach is found just a short walk from Gyllyngvase Beach, and is also a Blue Flag beach. Swanpool Beach runs along the Cliff Road and is one of the larger Falmouth beaches, during summer you’ll find a cafe, a bouncy castle to entertain children and surf hire outlets too. There’s a car park close by on the other side of the main road. If you do visit Swanpool pop across the road for a stroll through the nature reserve too!

Maenporth BeachMaenporth is another favourite with families on Falmouth beach holidays, and it’s a great place for a day in the sun or enjoying the water. The beach slopes gently, leading to shallow waters with plenty of rock pools to discover too, so there’s plenty for children to enjoy during a visit. Look out for the ship wreck visible off the shore at low tide, and bear this choice of beach in mind if you enjoy water activities as there are plenty going on! There is also parking right on the beach.

Gyllyngvase BeachLet’s start with the biggest beach in Falmouth, Gyllyngvase Beach, which won another Blue Flag in 2010. This curving expanse of sand is a firm favourite with families enjoying beach holidays in Falmouth, as it has easy access and a seasonal dog ban, as well as more than its share of rock pools and family facilities. Low tide at Gyllyngvase Beach reveals hundreds of rock pools teeming with shrimps and other creatures just waiting to be discovered by children! You may even find a lobster or two nearer the edge of the reef. If you worry about the children near the water, rest assured as the beach is lifeguarded during summer, and you’ll find a cafe and restaurant to keep hunger at bay too.

Castle BeachCastle Beach is a fairly small Falmouth Beach, but on the plus side it’s easy walking distance from the town. Overlooked by the dramatic Pendennis Castle, the beach is a favourite with picnickers, how many opportunities will you get to enjoy lunch beneath a Tudor castle after all?! This shingle beach has nearby parking on the main road, a seasonal dog ban, toilet facilities and a cafe. Castle Beach is another great beach for rock pooling, especially at low tide. Access to the beach is fairly easy but there are several steps to reach it, so Gyllyngvase Beach may be the better choice for those with pushchairs or wheelchairs.
