Description

Hambury House is a beautiful, new build, thatched cottage in the quaint village of West Lulworth.

The property has been tastefully designed to delicately incorporate traditional features such as a thatched roof and wooden ceiling beams into the build, whilst retaining a contemporary feel.

Situated in the heart of the village, the property is within a short walk of the village stores and a couple of pubs including the Castle Inn, a 16th Century thatched tavern reputed to be one of the oldest public house in Dorset.

Known as the Gateway to the Jurassic Coast, West Lulworth is situated within a scenic ten minute stroll of the picturesque Lulworth Cove, a sheltered horse-shoe shaped natural harbour.

Historically, the cove was notorious as a popular landing point for smugglers looking to land their illicit booty. Today a fleet of fishing trawlers are based in the cove as well as pleasure boats offering scenic day voyages along the coast. Its sheltered position makes the cove particularly popular with beachgoers looking to sun bath and swim.

Lulworth Cove is only half a mile from Durdle Door, an iconic natural limestone arch which has featured in several music videos, television productions and movies such as Nanny Mcphie.

Weymouth and Portland, official Olympic 2012 sailing venues, are within a 20 mile drive.

Hambury House, West Lulworth

We spent an idyllic Easter week at Hambury House with our 'adult' children and dog! After staying for many years in self catering properties I would rank this property as top in terms of standard of accommodation and equipment provided. The accommodation was spacious and nicely furnished. We took two cars, one estate and one small, we could only fit the estate on the drive so had to use the garage for the smaller car, so the parking facilities were ample. The location on the main road did mean that there was a certain amount of road noise during the day with coaches and cars travelling down to the cove, but in the evening the road was very quiet. The location was perfect in terms of amenities with a small Londis store open 8am to 8pm every day providing all basic necessities, newspapers, wine, etc! There are a few restaurants/foody pubs within walking distance. We tried the Lulworth Cove Inn (about 10 minutes walk), the food was outstanding and excellent value. We also used the Castle Inn, once to sample the Cider Festival (it would have been rude not to) and secondly for a meal. The meal at the Castle was ok but when compared with the Cove Inn did not represent such good value. The walks locally were amazing, definitely worth the hike up to Durdle Door! Now we have found Blue Chip Holidays, they would always be our first port of call when booking accommodation in this region, based on this holiday experience.

Hambury House

Our 4 bedroom holiday cottage was absolutely fabulous. Spacious, beautifully kept and ideally placed, just a short walk from the shops and restaurants in Lulworth Cove. Highly recommend not only the lovely cottage but Dorset too!

Hambury House perfect holiday

Booked through Blue Chip - so easy and excellent communication. Hambury House was stunning, modern, clean and a lovely addition of milk, cake and flowers on arrival. Great parking also. Wonderful location, short walk to Lulworth Cove, short distance to Durdle door. Convenience store around the corner. Great accommodation and location for our dogs as well. Would love to stay here again.

Hambury House

We choose Hambury House following an extensive search for a suitable property/location for our annual family holiday (my sister and I, our partners, Pickles the Westie and our parents who are both in their eighties and Pickles). Hambury House hit all our criteria and met all our expectations on arrival. The house is beautifully layed out and had almost everything we needed, the welcome pack complete with cake was very well received after a 5 hour journey. The area is lovely and having a shop and the Cove within walking distance meant we didn't have to rely on using a vehicle to get out (important for my parents). Lulworth Cove was wonderful and the views stunning, the weather was kind to us with bright clear and sunny days most of the week, meals at The Lulworth Cove Inn and The Dandelion were exceptionally good, visited the the fish shop in the Cove twice to buy locally caught (that day) fish for dinner - such a treat. Overall a fab holiday and we will certainly be looking at what Blue Chip has to offer next year.

Lovely Cottage

We have just spent a week at Hambury House, Lulworth Cove. The property is delightful, is in a lovely position and close to Lulworth Cove and several pubs and eating places. It was a wonderful base for visiting the Jurassic coast. We were so pleased we could take our dog, found the pubs especially dog friendly and were able to enjoy several nights dining out. Hambury House is lovely for couples or a larger party - there is plenty of room.

Our Golden Wedding Anniversary weekend

Hambury House was the perfect place to celebrate with our family, even our 17 year old Grandson enjoyed it. It was very comfortable and well equipped. It is within walking distance of the village. We all live in Dorset so didn't have far to travel to enjoy our surrounding, the weather was perfect. Would certainly recommend it to friends and family.

Wish we had booked a longer stay!

A superb and modern cottage style property in a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our short break & we will definitely stay in this property again. The enclosed dog friendly garden gave us total peace of mind. Well done Blue Chip for providing high quality accommodation but dog friendly too as this is not an easy combination to find.
