Description

Millstream Cottage is a charming detached cottage in the pretty village of Sutton Poyntz.  It is set in beautiful Dorset countryside just a few minutes’ drive from both the bustling Georgian seaside resort town of Weymouth and the dramatic Jurassic World Heritage Coast.

With countless beaches, wonderful walking and hiking, fossil-hunting, diving, sea fishing, rock-pooling, swimming, sailing and windsurfing all very close by, Millstream Cottage is the ideal base for a relaxing family holiday.

Internally the cottage is furnished to a high standard throughout. Externally, the garden is perfect for al fresco dining.  The cottage sits directly alongside the much-photographed millstream in the heart of Sutton Poyntz, which lies at the foot of chalk hills, overlooked by the famous Osmington White Horse and within walking distance of Overcombe Beach. The village has a busy pub with good food.  Convenience stores and restaurants are nearby.

Weymouth – which boasts some of the finest sailing waters in Europe – is only a short drive away and has lots to offer, from family fun to sophisticated evenings out. The town centre has plenty of well-known high street shops, a cinema and an abundance of cafes, restaurants and bars, while the vibrant, historic harbour is a great place for eating, drinking and people-watching.  The award-winning sea front, with its calm swimming waters, huge sandy beach and panoramic views of Portland and the Jurassic Coast, is perfect for young families.

Glad we chose Blue Chip to book our Easter Break with, the booking was straight forward and Blue Chip sent us very informative details of where we were staying and how to get there. We had a phone call from the property manager a couple of days before we went who was really nice and helpful telling us all we needed to know about the cottage and it's situation. The cottage was lovely and everything we expected and more. We will definately book with Blue a Chip again.

Millpond tranquility

Millstream Cottage is set in beautiful and peaceful surrounds. There are plenty of walks in the vicinity and we noticed riding stables so perhaps you could hack. The local pub is very decent with good beers and wines but we found the food limiting as almost everything comes with chips with few other options. Otherwise Weymouth is a short drive with plenty to do and there are other pubs in the area such as the Smugglers in Osmington, now part of the Hall & Wood house chain. The cottage is well appointed and cosy. There were 6 of us including 2 children and we were all accommodated. The latch doors could be tricky for the kids and older adults but were part of the charm. We would stay here again.

Millstream Cottage, Sutton Poyntz

This cottage is full of character, very comfortable, in wonderful surroundings and is an ideal holiday place to relax in, particularly if you have a dog and enjoy walking. We loved it from the moment we arrived, nice welcome pack on the table in case you hadnt remembered to get milk, tea coffee etc and nice warm environment. Pretty garden with space to sit (when the sun came out!)and enjoy with our dog who loved to explore it everyday. The Property Manager was very helpful when I contacted him regarding access to the cottage and gave me his own and his partners tel no's in case of any problems. Pub nearby serves lovely wholesome meals, pretty little duck pond in front of cottage where you could just sit and feed the ducks and a lovely village feel about the whole place. Whats not to like?

Fabulous cottage in idyllic village

On arrival to Sutton Poyntz and Millstream Cottage we were amazed at the beauty of the village and the location of the cottage. The setting was picture perfect as the cottage sat at the side of the duck pond which had a couple of willow trees overhanging it and the peace and tranquillity totally blew us away. The cottage looked beautiful from the outside and the beauty carried on inside. The kitchen was ideal and well equipped, the lounge a lovely size and nice French doors leading to the garden, the bedrooms were all a good size and the en suite bathroom was a great size with a lovely big shower. We would love to return as we had such a peaceful time. The walks around the area were wonderful and the beach a nice walkable distance from the cottage. Weymouth is a lovely place and the seafront clean and another nice walk. Highly recommend.

Millstream Cottage

Lovely location, nice welcoming goodies provided and the cottage was warm and cozy when we arrived, much appreciated after a long, rainy drive down! Lovely carvery at The Springhead, lots of peaceful scenery to explore, didn't cover half of it so will be back! Weymouth is very nice, the south harbor area especially. Very pleasant, relaxing week. Thank you!!

Millstream Cottage

We have had a fantastic holiday at Millstream Cottage. It's a beautiful village and the ducks in the millstream have been a major hit with our three year old, Phoebe. Plenty to do in Weymouth and the surrounding area. The cottage more than covered our needs and was a lovely place to stay. We will love to come back! Thank you for a lovely holiday.
