Value For Money Holiday

We could not fault any part of our stay at Stones Throw in Portland. Everything you could want was supplied. It was very nice to be met with a complimentary bottle of wine and box of chocolates, which just goes to show that little extra touch given.

A perfect stay

We stumbled on the Blue Chip website and was amazed at the quality and variety of the properties on offer. We were initially looking at a contemporary hotel stay but found nothing. Thats when we came across the website and were immediately spoilt for choice. We stayed at a recently built two bed house in the southern coastal area of Portland in Dorset. This was a development purposely built for the 2012 Olympic Games (Occupied by the Trinidadian & Bermudan sailing team). Great house, great facilities, great outdoors, good weather and just a plain enjoyable stay. Everything was in the house and we wanted for nothing. We were greeted with fresh crisp white bed linen on the double bed and enough space to house two single beds in the other room. The location was great with two pebble beeches and a spectacular view of Portland Harbour further up the hill. Loved it and will most definitely use the service again. Anderson - Nottimghamshire

Fantastic holiday

Me and my boyfriend visited for a long weekend, we found the house extremely clean and very modern, the added touch of putting milk in the fridge was great! (Easily pleased!) the chocolates and wine were also a fantastic touch and really welcoming. We spent our first day at Lyme Regis and our second at Lulworth cove fantastic places to visit and most of our evenings were spent in Weymouth. There is one pub a short walk away from the house i didn't feel that comfortable in there although it does have a pool table and dart board and regularly has live entertainment. We had a walk around Portland but a bit of disappointment there was almost no shops only houses which seemed a shame as sometimes it's nice not to drive all the time! But fantastic accommodation only thing I'd suggest is a bath mat in the bath... As it was quite slippery. I'm just quite clumsy! :)

STONES THROW, PORTLAND, WEYMOUTH.

The holiday accommodation was excellent, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, could not fault. The only niggle I have is that the photo on the website shows a lawned area which would have been ideal for our dog, however on arrival we found the area had been replaced with slabs and shrubs (some with prickly leaves which I had to clear from paving so as my dog did not injure herself), this meant that I had to take my dog out every morning and evening. We particularly wanted an enclosed, lawned garden for our pet and were disappointed on arrival. Maybe an updated photograph could be added to the website.

Nice little house

Stones Throw was a very nice clean and modern house with everything needed provided and everything working perfectly. Although there was only two of us, it would be perfectly comfortable for four. It is situated in a residential area and it is easy to walk to the Chesil beach or the harbour at Portland. The garden was very small but somewhere to sit. Portland is an interesting place and it was a good base to visit other places in Dorset.

Lovely week away!

Great little house, spotless and very nicely appointed. Shower amazing. Very dog friendly though the dog bed wasn't big enough for our medium sized dog. Beach, hill walks, cafés and pubs very close by. Didn't need the car all week.

Stones Throw

The property was immaculate, well furnished with great amenities. The pet bed was really appreciated as was the wine and chocolate. Although there was on-going work on estate which we hadn't been made aware of, it was unobtrusive.Having booked with you some time ago for a New Years break we knew that we wouldn't be disappointed. Please convey our appreciation to the owners, and we look forward to using your site again in the near future.

Great base for exploring Portland and Weymouth

The property was a great base for us to explore West Dorset. The dog had a great time on the many walks we were able to take straight from the house. We had great weather but it was still cold, so it was nice to come home to a lovely warm house.

Stones Throw Portland

My husband, 2 spaniels have just returned from a short break on Portland. We have stayed on the island before but not at Stones Throw. The house is beautifully appointed and very comfortable. And I have to say that it is one of the cleanest holiday properties that I have ever stayed in. The property had everything that we required and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Melissa was very helpful and easily contactable. Thank you blue chip Sandy Barton

A Delightful Holiday at Stone's Throw, Portland

Together with our three dogs we had a wonderful three week stay at Stone's Throw, Portland. The house was immaculately clean and tidy and provision for the dogs by way of beds and bowls were much appreciated. The owner, Melissa, could not have been more obliging and helpful and the extra touches were much appreciated. The location was excellent, there being plenty of walks along Chesil Beach and the nearby marina, and further afield around Portland and Weymouth. All in all this was the best holiday accommodation we have stayed in, and we very much look forward to returning in the future. Many thanks Steve & Bev Harrop

LIKE BRAND NEW - FANTASTIC HOUSE

Booked Stones Throw for my grown up son's birthday and four of us went down. Having grown up in Dorset we wanted to spend some time in places that were special to us and this modern home was perfect for that. To say it was clean is an understatement - it was spotless, you would have thought it was brand new. Everything we needed was there, including champagne glasses to toast and a cake stand and even the dog got his own (freshly laundered) bedding and bowls. Absolutely perfect! Thank you

We couldn't have wished for a better holiday cottage, everything was provided for. We even had a dog bed and bowls for dog. Nothing was too much trouble, we were well situated for Weymouth Poole Bournemouth all on the Dorset coast, and the property was superb.

Perfect active or relaxing family holiday.

Our stay at Stones Throw was lovely. The house is clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The extras thoughtfully provided by the owner make family catering easy and the welcome pack was well received after our long journey. The location was perfect for our family as we could have a car free day walking around the coast path around the whole of Portland, popping to Weymouth Beach for the day or venturing further afield to Monkey World or West Bay for crabbing. For older children the location would be great for cycling or sailing activities; bikes could be locked away in the shed. There is a leisure centre just around the corner along with a well equipped play park across the main road and our child was able to scoot around the courtyard area in front of the house safely. If you are fit enough, the walk up to the Heights Hotel gives amazing views and a photo opportunity with the Olympic rings. If you run, I highly recommend a route around the marina area towards the mainland and back again on the beach side of the road; very refreshing first thing! Thanks for a great holiday!
