Description

Jurassica House is part of our Olympic legacy, home to the Swedish sailing team during the sailing events in 2012.  A great location for water sports enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists, rock climbing, bird watching and of course, perfect for simply for relaxing.

Internally, the spacious living areas are completed to a high standard with oak flooring, porcelain tiles and quality modern furnishings throughout. The sizable master bedroom and living room offer beautiful views over Chesil Beach, extending out across the English Channel, The Fleet and Weymouth Bay. Externally, the enclosed private garden is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day exploring and is great for children.

Jurassica House is within walking distance to the cafes, art houses, pubs and general shops of Portland. Also within a short walk is the truly magnificent Chesil Beach – an 18 mile long shingle beach of National Heritage importance. The new international Marina is a five minute walk from the house and diving trips operate from here. Kite-surfing, sailing and windsurfing are among the water sports available. At the end of the road is Osprey Leisure Centre, offering an indoor swimming pool, gym, squash courts and other leisure activities. The iconic Portland Bill lighthouse is a nearby visitors’ attraction.

The traditional Georgian seaside town of Weymouth can be reached within a 15 minute drive. The glorious stretch of golden sandy beach is complete with traditional Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides in the summer.

Weymouth offers an abundance of high street shops, with a large department store alongside small independent shops, boutiques and restaurants. Brimming with attractions for family fun, visit the Sea Life Park and Marine Sanctuary or take in a show at the Pavilion Theatre.

Vindelis House

Vindelis House proved to be ideal for our family get-together. The house is beautifully appointed, ideally kitted out and has stunning views. What more could we want? Perhaps adult size pirate costumes! The kids loved theirs.

Vindelis House

Loved the house, immaculate, with everything we needed. Had a very blustery week, lots of showers, but had a great time. Hope to return, thank you.

We had a lovely week. Recommend West Bay Quarry, Bill Lighthouse area, Daniel's Fish & Chips. The girls liked the Sea Life Centre. Good coastal walks! Lovely house.

Vindelis House

With three grown up daughters & boyfriends, it isn't easy to find a suitable property with enough beds and bathrooms! Vindelis House is very comfortable and well equipped and it suited us well. The owners have spared no expense in furnishing and equipping the house and are still building it up. Garden furniture would have been nice for eating on the patio but otherwise, it wants for nothing. It wasn't easy to find the house, given that the directions were slightly wrong, we weren't originally given the house number (which is itself hard to see) and the actual name isn't anywhere on the house! It has good views of these, harbour and Chesil Beach but you are overlooking some industrial units and disused naval buildings. The general area is undergoing further improvement after the Olympics sailing but some of it is still a bit grotty, as are quite a few parts of Portland itself. You have to go a long way to find a nice sandy beach (unless you count Weymouth) but that isn't the fault of the house of course. There are lovely walks around Portland and other attractions but we have had better bases for a seaside/beach holiday. For water sport enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists, this would be a good spot and you have space for 3 cars. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The house is stunning and was perfect for two families for the week.

The house is stunning and was perfect for two families for the week. We were down for the sailing at the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre. The children had a great time - 2 very happy ‘Sea Monkeys’ and 2 completing their RYA Stage 1 & 2 . Glorious sunshine all week.
