This is how easy it is to learn to kitesurf, pack a towel and your swimwear and book yourself in for a session at The Watersports Academy beside Poole harbour. The academy takes advantage of the area’s waist-deep waters and rolling sandy beaches, and what better place to learn one of the most exciting extreme sports? The Watersports Academy run a whole selection of BKSA kitesurfing courses, and you can choose from one to one tuition to group sessions.
The courses are held using the very latest in kitesurfing equipment, and the experienced trainers will ensure that you have a great time while you learn. A one day course runs between 9.30 and 5pm, and it covers how to set yourself up, how to launch and land your kite, all safety considerations and on water body dragging.
The trainers understand that even once you’ve finished your lessons it can sometimes feel daunting to get started on your own (especially with an extreme sport!) so there are kitesurfing rider sessions available for those who want to get some practice in under the watch of the supervisors. These sessions can be booked by those who have successfully completed their BKSA Level 2.
