Dorset’s coastline isn’t only about the famous sandy beaches that attract the crowds, it’s also about undiscovered ones with less of the facilities but something unspoilt about them that makes them extra special. If you’re planning a Poole beach holiday, Flaghead Chine is well worth a visit.
This wide sandy beach has plenty of room and as it slopes gradually towards the sea it’s suitable for children of all ages. Because there are fewer facilities at this beach it’s usually less packed than some of the other Poole beaches – but if you fancy a quiet day away from the crowds it’s perfect.
If you’re of the beach-going school of thought that says all you need to enjoy the perfect day is the sight of colourful beach huts and a delicious ice cream kiosk then you’ll have a fantastic day at this scenic sandy spot. There are lifeguards on hand throughout the summer and also beach wheelchairs can be hired free (just remember to give the beach office on Shore Road a day’s notice if you need one).
There’s another big plus to Flaghead Chine and that’s the fact that barbeques can be enjoyed without permission (unless you have more than 12 in your party). When was the last time you gathered the family on the sand and served up burgers with a view of the sea?
