The South West Coast Path stretches for 630 miles, right from Somerset to Dorset. If you’re after some hiking routes that show Devon off in all its glory have a look at the sections of the path closest to your accommodation, as you’ll be able to choose the best one for all your needs. The sections are graded by things like difficulty and access levels, as well as broken down by their length and estimations of how long they’ll take to complete.
The South West Coast Path also makes it easy to make sure you see exactly what you want to, as you can choose by location or theme. The Devon sections include historical sites, cultural walks, those which pass pubs and the ones for wildlife spotters. There are also cafe and teashop walks, dog friendly ones and of course beach strolls, and you’ll be able to choose just the level of difficulty you can manage so there’ll be no waning half way through!
There’s even more good news, don’t forget Devon is lucky enough to have TWO coasts, so you can take your pick between the picturesque beaches of south Devon and the more rugged ones to the north. Whichever area you choose for your hike you’ll find unforgettable views, sandy beaches and plenty of welcoming pubs and tea shops along the way. Look out for Devon’s many walking festivals during the summer too, as they include huge programmes of events and hikes to take part in.
