Heather Cottage, Bridport

We stayed for a long weekend. We were fortunate with lovely weather. We visited some local site; Bridport Market on the Saturday, bussing, Lyme Regis, Weymouth and charming West Bay. We ate at Shaves Cross Inn and had a wonderful meal, not cheap but worth it. The cottage was superb, we had everything we needed, it was comfortable and we felt at home. We had a great weekend. Thank you to the Buglers - you have a lovely holiday cottage

2 fabulous weeks with my Mum, sisters and nieces.

2 fabulous weeks with my Mum, sisters and nieces. Dorset has a beautiful coastline which we explored to the hilt and then retired to the spacious well attired cottage for 'down time' We loved the quality beds and duvets, we lovingly nicknamed 'The marshmallows' the kitchen and spacious living area. Thanks, Cat, Simon, Sam and Edith for being on hand and sorting any queries promptly. We now know more about dairy farming and the intricacies of the milking herd and techniques. thank you for enabling us to spend quality family time in beautiful surroundings.

Seven days at Heather Cottage.

Absolutely perfect. Very comfortable and spacious accommodation and extremely clean. Very comfortable beds with lovely linen. Plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. Bathroom fully equipped and spacious. Kitchen had everything supplied and no problems whatsoever. Lounge comfortable with adequate seating (this is unusual as a lot of properties are lacking in adequate comfortable seating). Lovely dining area with huge table. No problems with television which was a plus as in some properties the TV is not always very good. The couple who run the place are very very nice and not at all intrusive but very helpful when needed. Only drawback for us was the vicinity of the cottage. Miles and miles of narrow country lanes which seemed to go on forever. The cottage is literally in the middle of nowhere but once there - after hazardous drive - all is very welcoming and homely. The only problem I had was the bad lighting over the mirrors which made it difficult to apply make-up. I find this problem in all places we have stayed. We loved Dorset and now consider it the nicest place in England. Puts Cornwall in the shadows. Lyme Regis is beautiful as is Weymouth and Bay Harbour. We would definitely like a Blue Chip accommodation next year and would love a place that overlooks the sea at Lyme Regis or Bay Harbour. Once again had a successful stay with Blue Chip.

Heather Cottage

The booking, deposit & balance were all easy to do & it was especially nice to receive confirmation by e-mail & mobile phone. The property was exactly as described & met all of our requirements. So important when a varied range of ages all staying together - from age 6 to age 69. Delightful to stay on a working farm. The children loved the calves & ran out to 'talk to them' every morning & evening. A most welcome mini hamper & logs on our arrival. We loved every minute of our week & hope to return.

Great country retreat, would go back!

Booking with Blue Chip on the phone was really easy. I received the contact number for the cottage owner and spoke to them in advance of the visit. The cottage is in the middle of nowhere on a Dairy Farm, which is really nice. Baby cows greet you every morning! There was a gift basket with fresh bread, local butter, pint of milk and some home made scones and local jam! That was a really nice touch. The cottage was well equipped with all kitchen items needed to make a cracking Sunday Roast. We all had good size double bedrooms, double glazing so we weren't woken by the cows. Warm, comfortable, cosy lounge. We visited the Market in Bridport, walked along West Bay, and climbed the Pilsdon Pen which is on the doorstep of the cottage, probably about an hour and a half walk up, great views from the top. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door were an hour away on our way home. Our hosts were next-door and on hand for any questions, really helpful. They allowed us to park all three cars, using up their space, which was nice. Couldn't have been better really.

great holiday on a really welcoming farm

We had a lovely break in this gorgeous cottage. It was jolly tricky to find, so plan your route and take a map, but once we were there it was wonderful. The cottage was spacious, well appointed and very clean. The welcome pack of fresh food was fabulous and the provision of tea, coffee, sugar, salt , washing up liquid etc meant the cottage was great for a long weekend and ready to enjoy without having to go straight to the shops when we arrived. Simon the farmer and his family were really welcoming and showed my young children newly born calves and allowed them to watch the milking from a gallery. We hope to go back again next year.

Long weekend break in Heather Cottage

We had read all earlier reviews of the property and they turned out to be entirely accurate. The cottage is full of character, spacious, clean and well equipped. The setting is rural, on a working farmyard but with lovely views to the rear. We were 3 generations enjoying family time together and felt very comfortable in this cottage. The calves were a big attraction for our grandson.

A superb base to explore the surrounding area.

This holiday cottage was excellent - very well equipped, spacious, comfortable and clean. The owners were welcoming. We stayed there with our 3 children and all enjoyed our holiday very much. There is lots to do nearby and we would definitely recommend this cottage.

New year 2015

We have just come back from Bridport for new year and stayed in Heather Cottage which was absolutely beautiful. We had a great time the beds were really comfortable and the fire was absolutely roasting and very relaxing. We all wished we could stay longer. The experience of booking was very simple and I liked that I got texts and emails with all the information I required. The whole booking was seamless. Great break cant wait for the next.

Much needed break

Our three days at. Heather cottage in Bridport were the best days of my life. There were 7 of us including two daughters in law. We had long conversations, discussions etc by the log fire. The cottage was very spacious hence we could be doing our own things and not come in each others way. The views were excellent and the outside space was lovely and spacious. The facilities were excellent. The owners were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They met all our needs and especially being a Muslim family we were a little hesitant but we were welcomed warmly and shown a lot of respect. The church welcomed us and invited us to join for Sunday supper. This was the highlight of our holiday. Thank you Blue chip and the owners for making our holiday so worthwhile :)

Just Lovely

Visited May Bank Holiday - group of 3 couples. Heather Cottage was just perfect. lovely and clean, furnished to a very high specification. It is in a very remote location which may be a factor for some. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, providing home made scones and bread, wchih was a reall treat. Would highly recommend the accomodation.

Away from it all in deepest Dorset.

When we found the farm after some miles of narrow Dorset lanes we were so relieved and surprised to find a modern farm conversion on a working farm. The accommodation had everything that we could wish for and the standard of equipment in the kitchen was excellent. Having our 8 year old grand-daughter with us we were a little concerned about farm machinery and the fact that we were on a high-tech dairy farm but Simon, the farmer soon put her at ease and introduced her to the new born calves and from then on she was captivated and every morning would rush down to see how many new ones had been born. Both Simon and Catherine seemed to have time to talk to us and answer questions despite having a very busy schedule and also trying to get ready for their own holiday. The local area is so quiet and there are lots of local walks with interest for young adventurers and the whole area including Bridport,Charmouth and Lyme Regis has plenty to attract and interest all manner of activities. There are so many really good inexpensive eating places and super beaches, really everything that a family could wish for. Since arriving home we have told so many friends about Heather Cottage, but not too many to avoid getting booked up foer the next holiday season!
