Where do we start with Bournemouth Beach? How does seven miles of sand, a selection of awards and fantastic family facilities sound? Bournemouth has always lured beach lovers from all over the country with its warm climate, happy atmosphere and gorgeous views. In fact, it’s statistically the happiest place in Britain, and we’re pretty sure that must have something to do with its stunning series of beaches.
Tucked in the shelter of a line of cliffs, the bay enjoys its own microclimate and (good news for the water babies amongst you) some of the UK’s warmest sea temperatures.
Take your pick from a winding series of sandy beaches, and along the bay you’ll find areas to try your hand at watersports, spots for families and sections where you can simply hire a deck chair and put your feet up. This is the place to get that bucket and spade snap of the kids, to stretch your legs on a sandy walk and to sit back and admire the sight of the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Purbeck on the horizon.
Bournemouth Beach also acts as the perfect open air venue for all kinds of events, including the Bournemouth Air Festival. You might even see one of the sand sculptures that often grace the beach while you’re there, so if you’re pondering a beach holiday in Dorset then it’s got to be Bournemouth. There is a seasonal dog ban at Bournemouth Beach.
