Georgian FestivalThis event in Poole is all about old-fashioned fun for the whole family...quite literally! The Georgian Festival celebrates Poole’s rich history and usually runs for a week in early July. The programme of themed events for the festival includes live music and free entertainment, exhibitions, Morris Dancing, tombola, art exhibitions, cheerleader demonstrations and much more. There’s a children’s fancy dress parade too, and visitors are more than welcome to join the fun!

Poole WindfestThis September event in Poole is set for the 9 – 11 September in 2011, and it’s the biggest action sports festival on the South Coast. The popular Poole event includes windsurfing, and sports such as kitesurfing, waterboarding, stand up paddleboarding and more. Don’t panic, you won’t be expected to join in if it’s not your scene – there are plenty of spots to sit and watch the others do the hard work! The event is held on Sandbanks Beach, and it’s one of the biggest annual Sandbanks events.

Santa Arrives in PooleYou better not pout, Santa Claus is coming to Poole! Santa Arrives in Poole is the perfect Poole event to get you in the Christmas spirit. Late November sees the arrival of Santa, who usually pulls up to the quay in a lifeboat! Now that's always a sight to experience! Once on dry land Santa makes his way through the centre of town to take his place in a very special grotto in the Dolphin Centre, where he greets children in the run up to Christmas.

RNLI Open WeekendWith the world’s second largest natural harbour, the RNLI is especially important to Poole and Sandbanks. The region takes time to celebrate it and learn more with the RNLI Open Weekend, and it’s always great fun for the whole family. The weekend includes training displays by the lifeboat crew and local lifeguards, as well as rare lifeboat tours and gripping sea survival demonstrations. This Poole event is held once every two years, with the next one set for 2013.

Sandbanks Beach Volleyball FestivalSandbanks Beach is one of the most stunning stretches of sand in Dorset, and it also happens to host the biggest free volleyball tournament in Britain. This fun Sandbanks event gives visitors the chance to watch the top UK beach athletes. Part of the Volleyball England Beach Tour, this competition makes for thrilling viewing, and it’ll start at around 9am. If the event inspires you to try your hand at some sports there are plenty to learn at Sandbanks Beach.
