Dog Friendly Weymouth BeachesGood news, dogs are allowed on Chesil beach all year round. Remember this is a very pebbly beach, so it can be tricky to walk along but if you’ve got sturdy shoes the views are well worth it. There’s a seasonal dog ban on Weymouth beach, which starts on 1 May and round until 30 September, but owners will find a section of dog friendly beach at the Pavilion end of Preston Beach all year round. Dogs are also welcome on Newton’s Cove beach all year round...this quiet cove lies to the south of the town.

Dog Friendly Portland WalksAs luck would have it, Weymouth and Portland sit right in the heart of a 95 mile World Heritage Coast, so the walks to choose from include some fascinating routes. It would be a shame not to use Weymouth walks as a chance to see some of the Jurassic Coast, so look out for trails that pass sections of this 185 million year old spectacle. Don’t forget Weymouth also sits on the South West Coast Path, so if in doubt choose a section and enjoy the Dorset views. The Coast Path has walks for all levels. |
Dog Friendly Portland PubsOur West Country friends never let us down, and the dog friendly Weymouth pubs scene is no exception! There are dozens of cosy pubs and restaurants happy to welcome well behaved pets along, so we’ve found a few to get you started. The Elm Tree is a lovely country pup with a huge garden and plenty of parking. As it welcomes dogs a with water and biscuits it makes for a great place to pause during a walk. The Kings Arms serve great food and welcome dogs. |

Dog Friendly Weymouth AttractionsNothe Fort sits at the entrance to Weymouth harbour and is one of the leading dog friendly Weymouth attractions. The fort is great fun for the whole family, and includes history military collections. Much of the attraction is outdoors, so there’s plenty of opportunity to make the most of the spectacular views out to sea – and your dog will enjoy the open spaces too. Please keep dogs on leads, and owners must ensure that they are supervised at all times. Oh, and by the way, the fort is rumoured to be haunted – so look out!
