Boscombe BeachBoscombe Beach is another family favourite when it comes to beach holidays in Bournemouth, and it’s always been a popular alternative to the busier main beach. This beach lies just east of Bournemouth, and it has everything you need nearby for a day in the sun. The beach is backed by cafes and restaurants, shops, toilets and surf hire outlets, so all you need to worry about is eating your ice cream before it starts to melt! If you fancy stretching your legs try Boscombe Gardens, and there’s a mini golf course too.

Southbourne BeachSouthbourne is something of a hidden treasure for those on Bournemouth beach holidays, as it lies at the bottom of a cliff path. This beach is a mixture of sand and shingle, and holds a Blue Flag – so it’s well worth venturing a little of out of town. If you fancy a swim away from the madding crowd then this is probably your best bet as there are no sudden shelves or rip currents here. There are toilets, car parks and nearby shops – so although not one of the busier beaches it’s well equipped. You’ll also find deckchair and beach hut hire. |
Alum ChineLast but not least, we have another Blue Flag beach in Bournemouth – Alum Chine. This beach has everything you could need for a family beach holiday, including safe bathing, a paddling pool, children’s playground, and the award-winning Alum Chine Tropical Gardens just a short walk away. There is a seasonal dog ban (as is the case for most Bournemouth beaches) and the beach is an easy walk from some shops and restaurants that will top off your day by the sea. |

Bournemouth BeachBournemouth Beach holidays start here! Whether your idea of fun on the beach is making sand castles, digging to Australia or just sprawling in the sun you have 7 miles to do it on at Bournemouth Beach, and there’s always something going on. You’ll find the opportunity to try your hand at water sports, enjoy family fun at the pier or just hire yourself a deckchair, all on one stretch of sand. Bournemouth Beach has beach huts for hire, fantastic views and some of the UK’s warmest sea temperatures. Just don’t forget the sun cream! |
Durley Chine BeachJust to the west of Bournemouth Beach you’ll find Durley Chine Beach, and a great find it is too! This is another of the Blue Flag holders to choose from during your beach holiday in Bournemouth, but please note that is must be accessed via the cliff steps of a slope from the nearby car park. Visitors to the beach must arrive at it via a wooded chine, making the day out an experience before they even set foot on the sands and there are kiosks serving food and equipment along the sand. Like most of the beaches in Bournemouth, Durley Chine operates the LV=KidZone scheme to help track down lost children as quickly as possible. |
