Hamworthy ParkJust a mile from the centre of Poole, Hamworthy Park Beach is a quieter choice during a beach holiday in Poole. Although sandy, this beach isn’t quite as golden as its neighbours, but is has plenty of facilities and it’s within easy walking distance from the town centre. There are refreshments available during the summer, and toilet facilities for the disabled. There’s also a paddling pool for children and a playground at Hamworthy Park Beach.

Flaghead ChineIf you’re planning a Poole beach holiday, Flaghead Chine is well worth a visit. This wide sandy beach has plenty of room, and as it slopes gradually towards the sea it’s suitable for children of all ages. Because there are fewer facilities at this beach, it’s usually less packed than some of the other Poole beaches – but if you fancy a quiet day away from the crowds it’s perfect.

Lake Drive BeachThis beach is a mixture of sand and shingle, and it can be muddy when the tide goes out so it’s better for a stroll than a day’s sun bathing. The beach backs onto Hamworthy Common, a small nature reserve and Special Site of Scientific Interest, so if you fancy stretching your legs during a beach holiday in Poole then you can wander the area and still enjoy the sea. If you’re on a dog-friendly holiday in Poole, bear this one in mind when it comes to walkies!

The beach has lifeguards during the summer months, and there are two car parks as well as some parking along the roads nearby. Like many of the Sandbanks and Poole beaches, Bransksome Chine is a great spot for watersports. There’s a cafe and restaurant at Branksome Chine too.
