Description

North Lake Chapel is a unique large detached four bedroom house, formerly a Methodist chapel dating back to circa 1860. It enjoys the accolade of being the highest house in Devon, thus the views are simply stunning; notably Dartmoor to the south, and Exmoor to the north. The building is an iconic landmark within its surroundings.

An imposing modern wall of glass has been built into the north gable of the property, facilitating the splendid views, and bathing the entrance hall with natural light. The Barn to the rear has also been developed into living accommodation, and is linked in to the old chapel; The Barn houses one of the two master bedrooms, as well as a dressing room and ensuite bathroom.

The main chapel features two walk-on balconies, one from the downstairs bedrooms via French doors in each, and upstairs from the living area, the balcony is a wonderful outside space to enjoy a drink, framed by some of the finest sunsets.

Situated in mid - Devon all the county has to offer is available to you. For a full day out, the famous beaches along the North Devon coast are an hours distance, offering brilliant days to Croyde, Woolacombe and Saunton Sands. The pretty seaside villages of Lynmouth and Lynton are a delight and of course the location offers some of the best walking the country has going, punctuated by picture-postcard villages such as Chulmleigh, seven miles away. Within twelve miles of the chapel is The Masons Arms, a Michelin Star restaurant in the village of Knowstone. The closest village store is Morchand Bishop or in Witheridge and this is 10 minutes' drive, and a pertol station is in Lapford.

The property is also ideally situated for those wishing to venture out for a day and explore the renowned South Devon coast (the English Riviera).

This property is baby friendly with a cot and a highchair provided for younger guests.

North Lake Chapel

Fantastic holiday home with everything thought of that you would need. Beautifully and considerately renovated keeping with some of the chapels original features. Clean , presentable and very spacious home. We received a wonderful welcome pack from the owner the best we have ever had in the 20yrs plus holidaying - very thoughtful and greatly appreciated by us all after such a long journey. The chapel is a lovely place to get away from it all and we have an excellent stay and would certainly advise others to visit.

Family Celebration at North Lake Chapel

We booked North Lake Chapel for a family celebration and found it an ideal property, with the open plan living upstairs we were able to be together whether cooking or relaxing. The welcome pack was most welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed the local produce - thank you. We enjoyed some fantastic sunsets and stars and planets were spectacular. Overall we had a most enjoyable stay.

Comfortable beds, beautiful en-suites and bathroom. Good walking country and if it is wet plenty of games etc to play and DVDs to watch. Very relaxing and private - amazing views.
