Head out into the countryside that surrounds Torquay and you’ll find the picturesque village of Maidencombe and, better yet, The Thatched Tavern. Spend a warm summer’s evening in the award-winning gardens while you enjoy the peace and quiet, or visit during the winter when the log fires crackle and walkers warm up over hot meals – either way, you’ll experience a rural Devon pub with a friendly atmosphere.
Dogs are welcome throughout, and the pub was awarded the title of ‘Best Garden 2012’ by Hall & Woodhouse, so not only can you stop off and dine outside while you explore the area with your pet but you’ll be in a pretty impressive garden to boot! The awards don’t stop there though, the tavern was named Regional Winner of the Hall & Woodhouse Beer Quality Award in 2011, and the staff are passionate about serving Real Ale.
The restaurant is surprisingly big for a pub one, and the chef takes pride in providing good food created with only the best produce from the local area. All meat is organically reared close to the tavern, the veg comes straight from nearby farms and the fish is caught in the waters of Devon. Your dish will be made to order to reflect the finest tastes of the season.
