There’s a nostalgic feel to Babbacombe that makes it feel a world away from the rest of Torquay, and the Babbacombe Cliff Railway’s gently ferried visitors down to Oddicombe Beach at the bottom of the cliffs since 1926. A tranquil way to sit back for a moment and take in Torquay’s coastal views, the cliff railway’s recently undergone refurbishment works, so you’ll be able to enjoy a brand new carriage as you glide your way down to the red sands of Oddicombe below.
There’s a café on the beach, so you’ll be able to sit for awhile and enjoy the views across the water before you make your way back up to Babbacombe. And, whether you decide to take it slowly and walk the winding cliff path back to the top or you hop back aboard the cliff railway, you’ll be treated to some of the English Riviera’s most spectacular spots.
Dogs are welcome aboard too, so if you’re after a picturesque stroll with your best friend you can wander the wooded cliff path down to the bottom and then get the cliff railway back to the top.
