Tavistock Carnival

Tavistock Carnival

What's On

The annual Tavistock Carnival takes place on the August bank holiday and never fails to draw the crowds. The historic town made famous for its annual Goosey Fair (and the nursery ryhme) becomes a colourful sight as floats, bands and clubs parade through its streets to raise money for local charities each year. The most inspiring float is recognised each year with the ‘Best in Procession’ title, so each group works hard on theme and appearance.

There's always lots going on, and the Tavistock Carnival is one of the greatest annual family events in Tavistock. Don’t forget some loose change to donate to your favourite floats and your camera to capture the spectacle. Every carnival has a different theme, and the 2014 one is 'yer havin' a laugh' so it looks set to be as entertaining as ever.
