This beautiful section of The South West Coast Path is ideal if you fancy experiencing some of the stunning coastal scenery that this area has to offer without committing to a long hike. At only 3.4 miles as a round trip, this walk is perfect is a fairly short walk ideal for families.
The route begins by walking through quaint country lanes, positioned high above the beach with spectacular views across Start Point, Slapton Ley and Torcross. With turquoise water and golden sands, you could almost feel that you are in the Mediterranean. For a slightly easier and shorter route, you can even catch the bus to Strete and walk back to Blackpool Sands.
Once you arrive at Strete, you'll be able to discover this charming village and all of its interesting features such as St. Michael’s Church built in 1836 and the old tower of the medieval chapel. From here, you can follow the path back to Blackpool Sands, an award winning, Blue Flag beach, famous for is clear waters. Why not end your walk by enjoying a rest on the sand and a snack from the Venus Café right on the beach?
