Tucked in the little fishing village of Beesands, The Cricket Inn’s been welcoming weary walkers since 1867. So close to a gently sloping beach that you can sit and watch the waves dance while you sip on something chilled, this picturesque inn makes the perfect place to unwind after a long old walk along the coast path.
We’ll start with our favourite thing about this inn, and that’s got to be its menu. Centred on fresh seafood caught right outside the pub in Start Bay’s clear waters, the menu serves up local produce that’s so fresh you can ask the staff where it came from. There’s locally reared beef and lamb, and even the vegetables are grown in the local area.
With a Red Rosette from the AA in recognition of serving up yummy meals that showcase the South West’s produce, The Cricket Inn prides itself on delights such as lobster, crab and scallops – straight from the bay of course. Or, for those days when you just want to tuck in to something filling and traditional, the fish and chips will have you planning your return visit even before you leave.
