Description

Shoreside is a new development on the banks of the River Teign in Shaldon, one of Devon’s most scenic villages. These properties have been built to a high specification so as to blend in with the local architecture. The riverside location makes this a superb place to enjoy a holiday.

Shaldon village itself has five welcoming pubs that, along with the superb views across the estuary, serve some excellent meals as well as cafes, restaurants and bistros to choose from. There is a good range of local shops including a bakery, general stores, a local butcher and a delicatessen.

A short climb to 'The Ness', a tree topped cliff overlooking the mouth of the river will be rewarded by a magnificent view across to Teignmouth and out to sea. Shaldon Wildlife centre, a small zoo dedicated to conservation is also located here.

There is a small passenger ferry available which transports visitors on a scenic crossing from Shaldon beach over to Teignmouth. Whilst in Teignmouth take a scenic stroll along the banks of the River Teign or take in a little nostalgia on the seafront pier, which also provides stunning views along the coastline.

For visitors in search of some retail therapy then Exeter is just a short drive away, catering for all your shopping demands. Whilst there pay a visit to the impressive Exeter Cathedral or stroll along the picturesque canal, home to an array of antique shops and waterside cafes.

5 Shoreside

Perhaps the best holiday home we have stayed in. Very well equipped kitchen, large lounge and 3 good sized bedrooms. En suite in master bedroom with upstairs bathroom / toilet plus downstairs toilet. Very clean and comfortable throughout. Lovely walks along the estuary and only 5 minutes walk to Shaldon/Teignmouth Ferry. Bus stop a minutes walk to Torquay and Exeter via Teignmouth. Great Pubs in Shaldon and the excellent Ness Restaurant. Shaldon Zoo also worth a visit. We didn't need to use the car at all. Well recommended.

5 Shoreside, Shaldon, Teignmouth

Shoreside at Shaldon is a small, private estate of superior-quality cottages, set on the estuary of the river Teign where it meets the sea. It is a truly superb location, watching the various boats coming back into the harbour, and the trains from Paddington to Penzance racing along the tracks on the opposite bank. Shaldon village, is quiet, very private and an ideal location for a small family, (three adults, mother, father and son). 5 Shoreside is a double-fronted cottage, with every amenity possible. A very tiny courtyard garden had been converted into a rear parking space, with room (just) for a small table and chairs. The property was immaculate, and it was spacious, extremely comfortable. There were a few "niggles". The recycling facilities were dreadful, and we found ourselves trying to recycle on a daily basis, but the lack of recycling stations in Shaldon made this difficult. The kitchen had no hooks for a hand towel/tea towel, and we were surprised to have a toilet so close to the kitchen, with no dividing wall. In the master bedroom the bed was made up with a really heavy quilt. Last but not least, we couldn't open the windows due to the absence of a window-lock key!! It was a very hot week (Hurrah!) and the inability to open the windows was quite a problem. We LOVE Blue Chip, we have holidayed with you many times before, at Moorings Reach, Brixham and will definitely do so again. You are, by far, the best holiday company we have ever used. Here's to NEXT YEAR!!!

5 Shoreside

We are a family of 3 generations who went to 5 Shoreside for a week's break, on arrival the key collection was so easy it was a good start and the house had the 'wow' factor, loads of room, bright and clean with every utensil you could wish for in the kitchen. Shaldon has red sand which seems to stick everywhere, so despite using our own beach towels we did dirty the lovely white towels provided in the house - felt a bit guilty about that. I would recommend this house to any one - happy holiday!

5 Shoreside

5 Shoreside is a fantastically located home from home which enables you to enjoy everything that Shaldon and Teignmouth have to offer. A quiet retreat for adults and an amazing base for families. The house has all those little extras that wont fit in the car. Shaldon beach is a stones throw from the house and only a short walk from the ferry terminal which takes you to and from Teignmouth. Fab when heading home from a long day at the beach! I highly recommend this property.

5 Shoreside

We chose to return to 5 Shoreside, as we had stayed there before, and couldn't believe how excellent the property was. Ample space for a large family group of five, ranging from aged eight to ninety-seven. Superbly well equipped.

The property is in a great location, close to the village, beach and park. My family and I have holidayed in Shaldon for many years and this property is the best we have stayed in. Very spacious, clean and comfortable.

5 Shoreside

This was the nicest property we have rented in the area - and we have been renting for many years. The amount of thought and care that had gone into providing for guests was unparallelled. The property was very clean and well equipped.

5 Shoreside

Our family of six including two children aged 7 and 10 years stayed at the delightful property in the pretty village of Shaldon just over the bridge from Teignmouth on the Devon coast. There was everything we needed for a perfect holiday and we agreed that the photos and description on the website do not do the house justice. The village has small shops, restaurants, pubs, a bowling green, fishing boats and parks, The grandchildren were able to "let off steam" before bedtime at the nearby swings. As well as the beach nearby, you can also walk up to the Ness to go through the smugglers tunnel to the other beach. Crabbing nets and junior "surfboards" are provided at the property. In August the Shaldon regatta events take place. There is stalls on the village green with the stallholders dressed in Georgian costume. The local public transport is excellent with frequent buses and a train station just over the bridge in Teignmouth. There is also a foot ferry from the beach. For steam train enthusiasts you can take a trip from Paignton to Kingswear, then a ferry over to Dartmouth. Both Exeter and Plymouth are both worth visiting. We took a train trip from Newton Abbott to St Austell to visit the Eden Project - a great attraction for the whole family. Not to be missed is a trip to the National Trust property of Greenway, the home of Agatha Christie. The views from the garden are magnificent of the River Dart, hills and woodland. The interior is absolutely fascinating with all the different collections. What made the holiday great though was the comfort of the house in Shoreside. At the end of each day we could relax by the TV or play board games from the cupboard. All in all a great holiday!

The cottage is very nicely decorated and very spacious. It is situated in a beautiful location. We found it very peaceful and a lovely view of the small garden in the close. We had 7 days of glorious sunshine. A fantastic holiday every one was very happy.
