Seashells, Salcombe Retreat

Fantastic lodge! With all home comforts. A real escape from it all. Great walks and outstanding views. Would recommend the Port Light Inn at Bolberry Down for an evening meal. Glad we came to Salcombe and would come here again

Seashells, Salcombe Retreat

A fantastic lodge style holiday but the ultimate in contemporary comfort. Located close to many beautiful bays, coves, small villages with beautiful pubs and restaurants and plenty of outdoor activities for children to do.

Seashells, Salcombe Retreat

We've had a wonderful time despite mixed weather. Finding sheltered coves and soaking up the sunshine with lovely pub lunches has been heaven. The lodge is fabulous, tastefully decorated, easy to use, clean and superb for a family. We'll definitely be back! Thanks you. P.S The Hope and Anchor at Hope Cove is fab and loved The Winking Prawn.

Seashells, Salcombe Retreat

Pure bliss! Macclesfield lies in the snow whilst we paddle, bask, swim, read, eat, fish and drink under the clear blue skies. Accommodation perfect as is Soar Mill Cove. What a find!

We've had an enjoyable and relaxing few days here.

Seashells is clean, comfortable and well equipped. We've had an enjoyable and relaxing few days here. Overbecks is worth a visit and only a 35 minute walk from here. Bigbury-on-Sea with a trip over to Birsh Island and a drink in the 14th century Pilchard Inn is a nice day out. Slapton Sands (like a mini Chesil Beach) has an interesting history. We hope to return as we didn't have enought time to do more exploring!

Seashells, Salcombe Retreat

We chose Seashells Salcombe Retreat for our first UK family holiday for a number of years. The holiday home was equipped superbly, was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished. It was quiet, and the walk down to the cove was lovely. We would stay here again.

We were delighted when we walked into the cabin is was all that we wanted. We have had a great week despite having more than our fair share of rain. Thank you and we hope to pass this way again.

Seashells, Salcombe Retreat

Far too many amazing walks, views and beaches to recommend in particular. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Dartmouth which is only a 50 minute drive up the coast. Spectacular views just like in Salcombe and full of history too. We would strongly recommend Dick and Wills Bar/Brassiere in Salcombe too for an evening meal, a little more expansive but amazing views, good atmosphere and truly 5* food. Loved our stay and would love to come back again.

The perfect stay

We had a perfect stay. The bungalow has four good beds, very strong shower streams, bright living room and a spacious kitchen. There is a lot to do in the neighbourhood. We recommend bus 93 from Kingsbridge to Dartmouth. Our favourite restaurant was Sun Bay Hotel in Hope Cove with a spectacular view over the beach and rock.

Great accommodation for a lovely holiday!

We would recommend Seashells as a great choice for a holiday in South Devon for a young family. We found the lodge in immaculate condition, with bright, clean and comfortable décor and equipped with everything you would need for your stay. Salcombe Retreat is in a quiet, rural location outside of Salcombe itself, but there is a local shop in nearby Malborough and the Soar Mill Cove beach and hotel is not far away. We preferred the beaches in Salcombe and East Portlemouth as they were clean and sandy and offered good paddling opportunities for a toddler! The area catered well for young families as in addition to lovely beaches there were lots of child-friendly restaurants, plus the attraction of boat trips and steam trains in the vicinity. The coast is very beautiful and you could find a different beach everyday if you wished. I would also imagine it would be a great location for walkers as the coastal path is on your doorstep. We would recommend the ferry from Salcombe to East Portlemouth, and the walk on to Gara Rock. We found the booking experience really efficient and the staff were helpful and friendly by phone. The sun was shining as well (although I'm not sure that can be guaranteed!)

This is our second visit to Salcombe Retreat and we have had a fabulous time. The lodge is superb as always!!! Our children loved Bigbury-on-Sea, fantastic waves and a beautiful beach. Salcombe Regatta was brilliant, fabulous fireworks and fun for all the family - congratulations to all involved - we loved it. Lots of new places visited this year, too numerous to write about. Thanks for a fabulous holiday! xx
