Have you ever wondered how it feels to be a member of an RNLI crew? Or just what happens between a call out and the launch of a lifeboat? Well, there’s a rare opportunity to see behind the scenes at Salcombe Lifeboat Station on 25th May, as the station opens its doors to the public for a fascinating day.
You’ll be taken on a guided tour of Salcombe’s two lifeboats by a member of Salcombe’s RNLI crew, so you’ll be able to ask all your questions about the invaluable work the crews do and just what it takes to face the elements.
The lifeboat heritage museum tells the story of the RNLI’s history in Salcombe, and there’ll be a whole programme of family fun with all proceeds going straight to the Salcombe lifeboat as well as the guided tours. Not only will you have the chance to chat to the whole RNLI Face to Face team during the day, but you’ll be able to test your ‘welly wanging’ skills and sample the barbeque during your visit too.
