Best holiday ever

We've been staying at the lodges at Soar Mill Cove for 3 years now with 4 year already booked. It's a magical place with lots of amazing walks and interesting things to do. The lodge is extremely clean and comfortable and well kitted out. It really is like a home from home. The views from the decking area are breath-taking and we love sitting on the desk with a glass of wine watching the sun go down. After staying in the Caribbean & Dubai last year, my kids still say that this was the best holiday ever! I can't recommend the lodge highly enough.

Aug 2014 stay

This lodge is beautiful. The owners have gone out of their way in providing useful local information and with finishing touches in the lodge itself. It is of 5* quality without a doubt. The lodge has a deck with a lovely sea view. This lodge is in one of the best positions on the site, with nothing between it and the view. We really enjoyed walking down to the little cove which was right next to the site. My sister and family stayed in the neighbouring lodge - we are both runners, so decided to run down to the cove and back - that was quite an experience! Salcombe is a lovely town with lots of shops, places to eat, boat rides etc. There is a great field on the site - we played lots of cricket and our 9 year old made some lovely (footballing) friends. All in all, a truly lovely stay.

Amazing Location

Wow!! What a wonderful place to stay. The lodge is exceptionally well equipped, we were very impressed with the home cinema system. The owners really have thought of all the little luxuries that guests would like. The view from the balcony and living room is to die for! Having a lazy breakfast on the deck overlooking the sea was fantastic! The location is amazing and we had some lovely walks directly from the lodge to the sea and back into the countryside again, via a farm shop with the largest scones I have ever seen!! (And some very strange sheep...) Given the proximity to Salcombe, the variety of shops, bars and restaurants meant that we never ate in the same place twice, and loved all of them. We will be back again next year!!

Amazing

We have been to this lodge at Salcombe Retreat four years running, we love it so much! The lodge is immaculate with all the mod cons you would expect, making for a very comfortable holiday. There are the most amazing sea views from the lodge and the decking area is the perfect place for a glass of wine to watch the sunset in the evening! It's located in a beautiful spot with lovely coastal walks on the doorstep. The scones at the nearby Walkers Hut are worth walking for! Also well worth a visit is Salcombe (for the sea salt fudge) and Kingsbridge (for fish n chips at The Codfather). We always look forward to our next holiday at Salcombe Retreat!

Wonderful stay

I have now stayed in this lodge twice and can't wait to go back again. It has fabulous sea views and is beautifully decorated throughout with very good quality bedding and furniture and a kitchen that is far better quipped than my kitchen at home! It is a real home from home and is extremely comfortable. There is plenty of space for a large family and the two separate bathrooms are a great bonus. The Lodge is surrounded by wonderful countryside with endless walks and coastal views. The Winking Prawn restaurant/bar is a must and is only a 5 minute drive from the lodge. It sits right on a charming little cove great for children and dogs and serves fabulous cream teas, food, hot chocolate and alcohol! The Lodge is a great place to go at anytime of the year. In the summer, the decked veranda has a great seating area with bbq where you can sit watching the sun set over the sea and in the winter, the fire in the lounge is great for cosy nights in looking out onto stormy seas. I would highly recommend the lodge. The owners have provided every possible luxury and the location is second to none. If you are looking for a relaxing break in luxury surroundings with breathtaking views, this is it!

Absolutely perfect

From the point of booking, Lisa the owner could not have been lovelier. We arrived to a great lodge with everything thought of and taken care of! The place is comfortable and in a perfect location for exploring the Coast. The walks from the lodge on the Coast Trail to Salcombe or to Hope Cove are beautiful are relatively easy (2 hours each). Lisa was very helpful and has prepared lots of recommended of things to do and see the area. Would highly recommend the lodge and thank you Lisa for a lovely stay

Peaceful, friendly stay

A fab location, stunning views and lovely that we could take our little dog with us. We are country people so are used to seeing wildlife on our doorstep however it doesn't take away the fact that it was special to see a family of 3 deer roaming across the field right in front of the lodge the first night and a little stoat scampering across the deck the second day of our stay. Although there is plenty to do and see locally we felt like we just wanted to soak up the cosy and homely feel of the lodge. Blue Chip is great to deal with and we will definitely be booking through them again. Thank you to the owners for sharing such a special place.

Great for:

salcombe retreat.

A small well kept site with good facilities for children and dogs. It is a steep walk down to the cove but worth the effort. Lodge number 23 is very comfortable with a good outlook out to sea. We were a family of 4 adults, a 4yr old, baby and two dogs and found the lodge plenty big enough.

A wonderful adventure in Devon

Salcombe retreat was everything we had hoped it would be. The lodge was bright, airy & modern with a superb view of the ocean. We had everything we could possibly need, plenty of towels, nice bed linen & a very well equipped kitchen. The 15 minute walk down to Soar Cove Mill was breath taking, the cove itself was beautiful & we enjoyed our evening stroll with our dog and a quick swim before the sun set. Loved the area, so many wonderful places to visit, lots of great seafood restaurants and all welcomed our dog. The site at Salcombe Retreat is so clean and well maintained & there were always people about asking if we were okay & had everything that we needed. We had barbecues out on the decking facing the sea, this is a beautiful area to watch the sun set & have a Pimms. Overall the holiday was perfect and we were blessed with sunny warm weather. We stayed at no 23 Salcombe retreat but all the lodges looked well cared for and very similar inside.
